After years of working in gyms and health clubs, it still blows me away to watch people simply walk 5 minutes on a treadmill and then think they are prepared for a tough workout. This may work for some people, since most of their workouts are far from intense, but if you are warming up to prepare for a REAL workout, then you have to learn to prepare your body for the work it is about to do.
Warming up allows you to mentally and physically prepare for the work ahead. A good warm up will improve performance and reduce the risk of injury. Bottom line, most people neglect this aspect of their workout and should be focusing on it much more.
Here is a quick video showing some of the movements and drills that we use at Innovative Results to help our clients prepare for their workouts. Please remember, these are just some basic movements and there are tons of options. Please use these drills at your own risk.
Remember, warming up is all about preparing your body for the work ahead, so a warm up for a swimmer will be different than a UFC fighter. The drills that we have shown are common warm ups in our facility. If you have specific questions about your needs, feel free to leave us a comment or give us a call (866)243.4472.
Have an awesome week!
