Innovative Results Presents Warrior Training Commando Course II Results

May 9, 2011 by ptpt 17 Comments

The day started out with a talk about fueling your body correctly in order to last the 6 to 9 hours this event may take. Fueling comes in the form of calories, water, but most important mental toughness.

Mental Toughness Wins the Day

Mental toughness is the ability to keep your mental environment soaked with positive talk. Words and phrases like, “Strength. Stamina. Endurance. Push. Drive. Will. Commitment. Courage. Persistence. I think I can. I know I can. I am doing this. I’ve got this. One more step. One more breath. You’re almost there. I will do this. This can be done. I am finishing strong.” Were filling the minds of all the competitors on Saturday May 7th, 2011 from 6am to 3:30pm. Most of this crew has been training hard for an event like this for months, but we had a warrior who was with us for only a month, and one who has only been doing Warrior Training for a week. They all had really good foundations of fitness, but it was their ability to stay “mentally tough” that won the day!

My good friend and fellow Warrior, John Madden had a sprained ankle, but helped out with the CFT AND did the WHOLE Modified Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol! He has really helped Warrior Training develop a new kind of mental toughness, that reaches deep inside, and can carry you further than you have ever gone before. John Madden, you are an inspiration and a physical specimen, and for that we love you, you crazy psycho!

Thank you so much Madden for all your help, guidance, and GREAT LEADERSHIP! You will bring Warrior Training, the IR Family, and me GREAT JOY when you go to selection. 🙂

This is great program. I would really like to be a part of next Warrior Training! When is the next one? Mental toughness can take a person a long way. This I learned from being a Marine. As a Marine it is expected to continue to work through any pain or weakness in order to accomplish the mission. All Marines are expected to carry you own "weight", and keep pace with the rest of the unit. This canot be done without mental toughness. A Marine is expected to perform even after he/she is hungry, tired, wet, cold, or hot. We can all benefit from hard physical training that pushes are mental toughness. It is good to push one self and be surprised what can be endured. We can endure much more that we sometimes think.

I experienced an intense all-day hike with my friends and without our positive mindset and mental toughness, we definitely would’ve needed to get air lifted out of there! We constantly encouraged ourselves and each other that together, we will eventually make it!

There is only so much mental toughness one can develop through training. It is experiences like the Commando Course that really put mental toughness to the test and further push it to the next level. If not this course, everyone should test themselves in something that will reveal his or her true mental strength in this grueling fashion.

You just have to keep telling yourself to push yourself. Its all in your head, what’s important is staying positive.

This course and the requirements are more than intriguing to me. I have competed in several OCRs, and had to push through debilitating pain, cramps, and all the fun stuff endurance based events present. My girlfriend and race partner at the time was a spin and yoga instructor, as well as the most amazing school teacher I have ever seen in a classroom. Without her positive attitude, positive words, and the positive thoughts in her head despite the injuries she suffered and was dealing w prior to the race, I would not have made nearly as good a time as we did without her. Positive thoughts and believe in ones self are monumental when challenges like this arise. Knowing your limits, pushing them despite the pain, and learning to quell negative self talk are all invaluable traits that ones leaves an experience like this with. Thank you for sharing!

I give kudos to all of the warriors who participated in this event. Seeing how well everyone did really is amazing. Mental toughness is huge in anyone and everyone’s life. The body can be pushed harder than most people think, but if you can’t or don’t tell yourself you can do it, or finish strong, then what’s the point? I try to give myself a positive mindset everyday right when I wake up. I am the man, and today is my day to shine! I also try to encourage people to do what they want. I’ll put my life or stuff aside and try to lift them up giving them the mindset I think they need.

Mental toughness is the ability to disregard the thoughts telling you to stop, to find the layers within yourself to keep going. The body can go much further than the mind wants to let it. This course challenged the participants to find that layer and encourage each other. I would definitely love to do something like this!
