Keys To Living Your BEST LIFE – A Real Life, True Story From Owner of Innovative Results

August 10, 2015 by Jessica Leave a Comment

By Aaron GuyettIMG_20150701_194013

We are free to make whatever choices we decide, but we are not free from their consequences.

It is our choices that hold the keys to our best life.

Whether it is faith, love, fitness, or feelings, we have much more choice than we think.

Sure there are a lot of things we don’t control, like weather, how other people see us, geo-political climate, and what other people decide, but we control our choice.

That is one of the greatest powers we own, but there are many of us, that have chosen to be the victim.

They have decided to blame the things that happen to them, the way they feel, their lot in life on everybody and everything that happens to them, instead of doing the hard yet rewarding work of taking responsibility for their thoughts, actions, words, and choices.

This is why Innovative Results – The Orange County Fitness Playground – has adopted the “Next one, best one.” Mantra.

We understand that if we make the best choices we can with what we are given, and deliver our very best in each of those choices, they will turn into our best skills, and those skills will turn into our best habits, and those habits will become our best character, improving our quality of life.

Best Choicesblog-consequences
Become
Best Skills,
Which become
Best Habits,
Which become
Best Character,
Which becomes
Your Life.

Once I understood this concept, I began to see it everywhere in my life.

I see it in all of my relationships.
I see it at work.
I see it in my marriage.
I see it in my family.
I see it in my community

Most of the time, people are looking to blame their misfortune on others or on things out of their control, yet they have no problem staking claim to any bit of success they experience.

Do you see the flaw in the formula?

There is a fundamental flaw in the formula that states everything bad is not my fault, but everything good is all me!

The flaw is a lack of responsibility for the consequences of one’s choices.

Let’s look at marriage.IMG_20141127_124946

When I was dating my wife, there was fireworks! Everything was AWESOME!! (Que the Lego Movie theme song)

For the first few years together, we could do no wrong, but when the romance wore off, I noticed every white spot on the mirror, missing sock in my drawer, and all the other issues I was blind to because of romantic love.

When romance wears off, do we blame the other person or the situation or the things in our lives for the love that is slipping away? (I have done this and I know many of you have done this as well)

But the hard truth is… No.

It isn’t her fault, any more than it is the white speck on the mirror’s fault.

If I want to experience love, I MUST CHOOSE LOVE!

If you want to experience anything worthwhile you must choose it!

Love is a Choice.keep-calm-you-get-what-you-give
Beliefs about people are a Choice.
Beliefs, period, are a Choice.
Faith is a Choice.
Patience is a Choice.
Hard Work is a Choice.
Focus is a Choice.
Health is a Choice.
Fitness is a Choice.
We Decide.

Either I choose love, or I decide to not choose love—every day.

Anything worthwhile will come with a difficult choices, and a very REWARDING CONSEQUENCE.

After choosing something like love after the romance wears off, there are things we must believe, do, think, and have faith in, in order for it to work.

To build the character of a loving husband, I am going to have to proceed with effort and discipline:

• I am going to have to focus on my wife, and meet her needs emotionally and physically.
• I am going to have to believe the best about her in all that she is saying and doing.
• I am going to need faith that she will reciprocate this love on some level or another.
• I am going to need patience when she does not meet my expectations (communicated or not).
• I am going to have to work hard, and even fight for our love and marriage when times get tough.
• I am going to need to be healthy, fit, and clean for her, as a sign of respect and physical love.
• I am going to need to do all of this consistently and intentionally, so she trusts me.

When all of the above is done well, we call that diligence toward love.

The awesome part is that we can do this in any area of our life.

Fitness, Health, Nutrition, Business, Finances, Emotions, Relationships, Faith, Love or Beliefs.

We have more power than most of us choose.
**Be Warned: Once you choose to take responsibility for your choices you may experience happiness, contentment, success, and all other consequences that come with your choices.

Again, Here are the keys to living your BEST LIFE:

• What are you choosing today for your best life?
• What do you need to focus on for your best life?
• What beliefs do you need to have your best life?
• What do you need to have faith in for your best life?
• What do you need to work hard at in order to realize your best life?
• What do you need to have patience with in order to realize your best life?

free2choose

Now diligently pursue your best life every day in every way that you have given yourself the power to do by answering the above questions.

Your diligent hard work, focused intensity, and patient endurance will be rewarded.

Next one, best one!

All Confidence and Smiles, Mikki is Down 23lbs & 2 Dress Sizes

January 29, 2015 by IR Staff 1 Comment

This is one AWESOME story from one of our many tough, hard-working Innovative Results mothers!

January 14, 2015

mikkiIf I can make a difference for at least one person who has a similar story, and is considering making a lifestyle change, then I would like to share my story.

While it might seem to some a little dramatic if I said that Innovative Results saved me, but in truth, it did just that.

In August of 2014, I was a 49 year old woman fast approaching her 50th birthday. My youngest daughter was leaving home for college, and as happens to so many women at this time of life, my husband asked me for a divorce. Plus, a very good friend my age was diagnosed with ALS, and her health was deteriorating quickly. To put it mildly, I was overwhelmed and life seemed to be spinning out of control. Oh, of course, I was 40 pounds overweight and having knee problems. It was time to ante up. Get with the program, etc, etc. These were all game changers for me and I wanted to get through the next 50 years as healthy and happy as possible.

I hadn’t always been 40 pounds overweight. I have a thyroid disorder which slows down metabolism. I was a typical yo-yo carb eater – get back on the wagon and eat no carbs dieter for years, and would exercise, lose weight, and then stop, then gain the weight back, etc. You know the story. I had belonged to a big box gym for many years, but used it only occasionally, as I preferred to run outside or take occasional Pilates classes. This time, though, I was in it to win it. A complete overhaul and lifestyle change was in order. I wanted to accomplish something for me. Since my knee was bothering me and I could no longer run, I wanted to try something different and really wanted a personal trainer. I did some research, saw the great reviews and made an appointment with Innovative Results. I remember being so scared to make the call. I was afraid I’d look like an idiot. I was old and overweight. I was afraid I would fail. I was prepared to turn my health around though, and I made the call.

Mark Elmasry was the trainer who answered the phone. I told him I had an issue with my knee and was looking for somewhere to work out that could provide specific exercises for me. He was so nice and knowledgeable over the phone. I immediately made an appointment to see him. I was met by Mark and co-owner Corey Beasley, who both listened to my health issues/knee problem and walked me through a series of stretches and exercises that would build muscle in my legs to support my knees. I had their full attention for the whole hour, and both of them were very knowledgeable. They never made anything seem out of reach. They sealed the deal. I was a new member of Innovative Results. For my first week, Mark and Corey worked on my imbalances and stretched and rolled out my legs. I never knew stretching and rolling out a muscle could make me sweat so much. During my second week, I began the Innovative Results classes. After a week of private sessions with Mark and or Corey, I was a little disappointed that I would now be in a group setting. But, this is where it gets good! No matter how many people are in the class, trainers Mark and Corey ALWAYS pay attention to what each and every one of their clients are doing. They correct us if we are performing exercises wrong and they praise us when we are doing it right. They make us work hard. No, let me say it like this. They make us WANT to work hard. Many times both trainers have modified the exercises for my knee without me asking. They do this for others as well. I want to reiterate this fact: They are ALWAYS paying attention, even when they are messing around, which is often. They are both silly. And I hope I don’t offend anyone by saying it. They are silly in a good way! And it is one of the reasons I love IR and my trainers. They are all educated about what they are teaching us. They continually challenge us to do our best, but they have fun doing it, and it crosses over to the clients. We all have fun sweating and grunting during our workouts. That is why we return day after day to this amazing playground.

On a side note, I would like to mention the other co-owner, Aaron Guyett, and IR Coach Mason and IR Intern Madison. I don’t have the pleasure of training with Aaron and Mason very often, as they are morning trainers. However, I have had a few occasions where I was able to train with them. They are both awesome too, and of course, equally as challenging and just as fun as the night crew. Madison is also an intern and assists with the training at night. She is also fun and knowledgeable and ready to step in for the trainers when asked. As are all the interns that assist at IR. Let me not forget Jessica who works the front desk during the day. She is always a pleasure to talk with and offers a friendly face upon entering. There is also Lewis who works the desk at night. He too is kind and friendly and is always cleaning something. IR is very clean. 

So, did I leave anything out? Well, one thing. I know I said they were all nice. But did I mention that they are all REALLY nice? Upon entering IR, no matter where the trainers are in the room, or who they are with, they will give you a welcoming shout out. If they miss you on your way in, they will acknowledge you by name when you lay your keys down or begin your stretches. They make their clients feel welcomed.mikki_2

I had been waiting to write my story and give IR the shout out they deserve when I could say that I lost the 40 pounds I had acquired during 2014. But in all fairness to IR, I couldn’t wait any longer. They are just too good and need to be recognized! I haven’t lost the full 40 pounds, but I have lost 23 pounds, and many inches. I’ve also gained muscle which takes up less space than fat and I have shrunk at least two dress sizes. So, I didn’t lose all the weight yet, but I gained back the self esteem that disappeared with my weight gain, and so much more. I feel connected to the people I’ve met at IR, as we are all in this journey together. I feel ready to battle all that life has to bring! By the way, I haven’t lost my fear of failing, but that’s what keeps me getting up and going back every day, for I know if I continue to try, I can’t fail.

THANK YOU TEAM IR! I LOVE YOU ALL. XOXO.

Mikki Tiberghien

Thank you for sharing your incredible story Mikki! You bring such an amazing energy to the IR Family, we look forward sharing in many more of your VICTORIES!

Working Out Should Be fun and SOCIAL!

April 27, 2014 by ptpt Leave a Comment

lose-weight-without-boring-cardio-

By Cori Lefkowith

We are social creatures.

Heck….We even like to go to the bathroom together.

Yet all too often we choose to go on a cardio machine and workout by ourselves.

No wonder it can be hard to stick to a routine!

Instead of working out by ourselves, let’s use the fact that we are social creatures – let’s make working out social.

Because being social may just be the motivation you need to make the switch to a healthy lifestyle!

Don’t believe me?

Then check out these reasons to make your workouts a social event!

• Working out will be more FUN when you have your friends around you. And “fun” generally means it is something you will WANT to do again.
• Friends hold you accountable. Friends will check in on you when you skip a session. They will check in on you and help give you a reason to go even when you don’t necessarily “feel” like it.
• Friends motivate us. Knowing you will be letting someone down if you don’t go will keep you showing up even when you aren’t motivated.
• Working out with friends can also push you to work harder. If your friend is doing heavier weight or more reps, you are probably going to push yourself to do a few more reps as well!
• Friends will also support you. Have you plateaued? Have your results slowed? Having a friend there you can chat with who may be going through the same thing or have gone through the same thing in the past, can really help you push through the rough patches!
• Making working out social can also help you remain dedicated to your goals. For one, you have a reason to go because the workouts are fun. Two, your friends hold you accountable if you don’t show. And three, it will keep you dedicated even when your internal motivation wears off because you are part of a group and you can’t let down the group!
• There is sense of community when you workout with friends. And that community gives you a strong reason to keep moving toward your goals. And it also allows you to help OTHERS move toward their goals as well! You can both get support and GIVE SUPPORT!

When Your Plan Fails, Will Your Mindset Be Strong Enough Carry You to Victory?

August 21, 2013 by ptpt 6 Comments

Have you ever run a race?race picture

What would you do if your music shut off 6 miles into your half marathon and you’d always been dependent on your music to keep you going?

Would you just give up?

Or would you have the mental toughness to not give up?

Unforeseen circumstances can arise during competition. Circumstances that you can’t directly prepare for but circumstances that can hinder your success no matter how physically prepared you are.

It all boils down to mindset.

How strong is your determination to succeed even when things start to go wrong?

And sometimes you don’t know just how strong you are until you are tested.

This past weekend my client, Jodie, and I ran a half marathon. It was Jodie’s first and she’d been training hard for months.

She’d logged the miles and lifted weights to get stronger. Her body could handle the 13.1 miles.

We started out at a great pace. She was looking good and relaxed. We were even having some fun poking each other and pointing out all the people running in costumes that we passed.

Her running looked so smooth as the miles went by that I was almost sure we were going to finish earlier than we’d told her husband and daughter to get there.

And then around mile 6, Jodie’s fully charged, brand new iphone, shut off.

Just like that, her music was gone. The motivation she’d used to log in mile after mile for the past few months was gone.

I could see the devastation wash over her.

But she kept going. Mile 7….Mile 8….Passed. And she just kept going.

Her body began to hurt and with no music to distract her, she became focused on the pain.

She told me, “Something’s not right.”

But she kept going.

And then we hit a hill…We hit a hill a mile longer than planned for.

A hill a mile longer than planned for, a body in pain and absolutely no music to distract her.

Could you mentally charge up that hill? Or would just be done?

Jodie took on the mammoth of a hill and while we didn’t end up finishing before her husband and daughter got there, she finished strong.

Jodie made it through because of her MINDSET.

The question is “Would you?”

Here is a quick story that we received today from one of our members:

Almost 4 years and I can count the number of times I have used my 24 hour fitness pass on both hands.

Why?

I have found my NEW favorite Gym.

Best Fitness  Center Orange County = Innovative Results. Period.

When I miss the workout at IR, I MISS the workout. The level of compassion, drive and program development at Innovative Results is unbeatable in Orange County.

I have personally done the high school and collegiate athlete grind. I have squated, lifted, pulled and pressed my way to boredom. Not here. Everyday is an adventure using tools for muscles you forget you had.

Isn’t life about working hard to play hard? Here, there is just playing hard.

If you can workout, laugh, increase strength, and manage your health and fitness while playing, I don’t see why anyone hops on a treadmill or hangs with the grunt and sweat of a basic gym.

Tried and proven IR is the #1 fitness center in Orange County.

Get results and be HAPPY!

Bye Bye Belly Fat…Finally The Truth!

October 2, 2012 by ptpt Leave a Comment

As the belly fat goes away, the beauty of the human musculature reveals itself, and that is a satisfying sight for your hard working eyes!

What does it take to rid yourself of the stubborn subcutaneous and visceral fat in and around the abdominal cavity?

There is a ton of stuff out there claiming the BIG changes to your body is in a secret pill, device, gimmick, diet, or worse, a surgery…I am here to make no such claims. I will say, after studying the human body and mind for over twelve years, I have seen several humans DO IT!

There are many factors involved (i.e. hormones, nutrition, exercise, metabolism, age, weight, genetics), but the three biggest proponents to drive away the belly are:

  1.  HARD WORK
  2. FOCUSED INTENSITY
  3. AND PATIENT ENDURANCE

It is almost humorous to me that these three same traits are inevitable in any avenue of life.

Whether the area is:

  • Healthy Relationship
  • Financial Freedom
  • Becoming Debt-FREE
  • Business Success
  • Skill Mastery
  • Competition Wins

YOU MUST COMMIT TO YOUR VICTORY! YOU MUST BEGIN ACTION TO ATTAIN VICTORY! AND YOU MUST STAY CONSISTENT WITH IT FOR YOUR VICTORY!

IR and I have set up some ways for your to WIN in July. If you are ready to turn up your game, you can now add 2 sessions for every 1 purchased.

Think about it, if your friends or family ever wanted to join, now is their chance! They will literally save half right now.

If you ever wanted to accelerate your change, you can add another session and get an extra one for FREE!

1 Mile Rope Pull is NO Joke and Emma did it like a Champ!

June 26, 2011 by ptpt 1 Comment

If you haven’t visited our gym yet, we have several “in house” challenges that are posted on our walls.  We do this to recognize people that are kickin butt and to help encourage new people to work hard.

Emma Quick joined the IR family a few months ago and wanted to take on one of our Innovative Results wall challenges.

With a lot of strength and mental training, Emma became part of an elite group of 16 people that have pulled one mile of rope at the IR facility. Emma is now one of 4 IR women to have completed this task. She pulled our inch and a half rope 52 times in less than 2 hours.

Way to go Emma!!!!

We are so proud of you!

Abs are Made in the Kitchen

December 22, 2010 by ptpt 1 Comment

Most people come into the gym with one goal in mind – to lose weight and look great.eugene-success-rotator

And what I tell them is that working out will help them build muscle so they can look lean and strong. It will help make them healthier. It will make the weight loss process easier.

But I also tell them the honest, hard truth – that if they don’t eat well, they won’t reach their weight loss goals. Abs are truly made in the kitchen (and the grocery store).

Abs Are Made in the Kitchen

I would LOVE to be able to you that all you need to do is workout with me because that would make me a ton more money.

But it isn’t the truth.grocery-shopping 2

If you want to reach your goals, you need to eat whole natural foods and cut out all of the processed crap and sugar.

You need to STAY CONSISTENT over time and not just give up on a diet after a week. It takes TIME, DEDICATION and HARDWORK to look and FEEL great.

This doesn’t mean that you need to achieve perfection in your diet because perfection isn’t maintainable in the long run.

Just stick to the 80/20 rule. Eat clean 80% of the time with room for indulgences 20% of the time.

Remember, Abs ARE made in the kitchen.

So while working out may help you build a six-pack, if you don’t eat well, you will never be able to see it.

How Did Chris Get That Six Pack?

January 31, 2010 by ptpt 1 Comment

How many hours are you on the computer?

I live in Irvine and met Corey Beasley, owner of Innovative Results, at a business networking event. Coincidentally we lived in the same neighborhood.

I am a graphic designer and typically spend 6-12 hours per day in front of the computer. I had just finished up a 3 month boot camp that got me in cardio shape, but now I wanted to build muscle because I was just cast in a musical called the “Full Monty” .  If you know the story, you’d realize that I would be spending much of my time in a pair of boxers. That alone is a pretty good motivation to get the the gym, but I only had 3 months to develop a show stopping physique! Corey and I were up to the challenge!

In addition to pushing me 5 days a week in the gym, Corey also instructed me on how to eat properly for my specific goals and monitored my diet.  For the first time in my life I didn’t resist going to the gym, in fact, it became the highlight of my day, 5 days a week! When you put in that type of effort, the diet comes naturally because you want to do everything you can to support your hard work and achieve the results

3 months later, by the time the show opened, I was looking better than ever had and the audience response was most flattering.  I added close to 15 pounds of new muscle and developed a killer, attention getting six pack. This was not only good for my show, but also helped by the pool all summer long.

It has been a year now and i continue to train 5 days a week and I continue to achieve goals and enjoy the process!  I can’t wait to see what happens this year!
Do you want a six pack?
