Innovative Results is about helping you learn the facts of conquering your fitness goals, so you don’t become an injury statistic or someone who is floundering in frustration.
One group (USA) went to the moon and came back, and the other group (USSR) did not.
If one looks at what each group accomplished and how they accomplished each stage or item on their agenda, one would get a pretty clear idea of equifinality.
“Equifinality refers to both the unpredictability and potential for adaptation of groups.”[1]
As the cliché saying goes, “There is more than one way to skin a cat,” and according to equifinality, that is correct.
Leading people, or discovering fitness is no different.
The only two points that must be crystal clear, are where we are (or where I am) right now, and where do we want to be (or where do I want to be).
Once these points are clarified, than begins the variety of approaches that may take us there.
However, in fitness, just like in business or charity, there lies some scientific unarguables, legal boundaries, financial limits, time constraints, and (hopefully) ethical values that must be upheld.
This is the reason, someone would hire a personal trainer, or personal coach, or advisory committee before plunging head long into the variable stricken reality of their goals.
If one chooses it alone, rest assured they are in for a challenging time fraught with hurts, hang-ups, and headaches, but some people must only learn or live this way.
They can’t imagine taking advice or getting help from more experienced people.
They LOVE unpredictability and the adaptations that come from equifinality.
There is nothing wrong with that, but some of us see the wisdom in taking advice from others, and pursuing our goals with a good support system.
