6 Ways We Improve Your Mental Toughness During Innovative Results Active Performance Training

May 31, 2016 by IR Staff 1 Comment

Check out the video below to see a small snippet of Innovative Results Active Performance Training.

Every person that trains with the Active Performance fitness training class, must try-out, which ensures each individual has less risk and higher reward.

6 Ways We Improve Your Mental Toughness During Innovative Results Active Performance Training
Tryouts are the first Tuesday of each month at 6am & 6pm

Once they pass the rigors of try-outs, which includes pull-ups, push-ups, deadlifts, front squats, VersaClimber, and jump rope, they begin the process of increasing their performance and capacity.

This is a very physical process, which is programmed and coached by the best fitness coaches in Orange County.

But believe it or not, it is far more mental than physical.

Here are the 6 Ways We Improve Your Mental Toughness During Innovative Results Active Performance Training:

  1. Progressive Training Programs
  2. Giving Your Best, Even On Your Off Days
  3. Positive and Intentional Coaching
  4. Positive Support and Friendships
  5. Safely Pushing Beyond Physical Limits
  6. Staying Committed and Consistent for the Long Haul

The amount of mental toughness that is needed to overcome the obstacles, excuses, and physical demands of the training cycles is far greater than the training sessions themselves.

We all experience doubt, fatigue, laziness, confusion, lack of focus, anxiety, and even depression when we move toward our improved quality of life.

Let’s break down the ways that mental toughness is trained with a little bit more detail.

Progressive Training Programs

6 Ways We Improve Your Mental Toughness During Innovative Results Active Performance Training
Crawl Before You Walk, Walk Before Your Run

By utilizing progressive training programs, you can build a strong mental toughness without being demoralized by an overwhelming program or training cycle. Training cycles should build upon themselves, not be so difficult that you can never complete them. This type of intelligent and progressive training programming is not found in most gyms and training systems these days. It is okay to be humbled from time to time, but if every workout or training cycle is so hard that you cannot complete it, the person will end up quitting not overcome mentally.

Giving Your Best, Even On Your Off Days

victoria anthony collage, mental toughness, strong, active performanceWe all have off days, and those are the hardest days to commit, come train anyway, and overcome mentally and physically. That is why it is so important to make the commitment and do the work. When we let off days stop us in our tracks, it can be a slipper slope. I am not saying overtrain, or train when you are injured…be smart, and give the best that you have for that day, which might mean dynamic stretching, mobility, and light aerobic work. It may also mean, digging deep and doing the hard work that today demands. Each situation is different, but quitting is never the answer.

Positive and Intentional Coaching

mental toughness, mentally tough, good coaching, Aaron GuyettA positive and intentional coach, knows their clients and students. He or she will make the right adjustments, hold back, stay silent, speak up, demand more, etc. depending on the student and situation. If you are getting increases in your physical and mental strength and endurance, than your coach knows what he or she is doing, if not, it is time to have a conversation with your coach. If after the conversation, the coach doesn’t change and neither do your results…find another coach.

Positive Support and Friendships

Ladera Ranch Personal Trainer, ankorr, zuu, mental toughness, mentally tough, support, strongI have never seen, not heard of a lone wolf make it in the wild, and I have also never seen a lone wolf type person make it in a difficult training cycle. We are social creatures, and we need to be pushed, challenge, encouraged, inspired, motivated, and moved by our support and friendships. Just because Rambo and Chuck Norris are awesome on screen, doesn’t mean it works in real life. This is real life, and we need support and friendships to do incredible things.

Safely Pushing Beyond Physical Limits

Ankorr, zuu, mason, innovative results, mentally tough, mental toughness, strong, crawlAt Innovative Results, we are very picky about how we choose to push people past their perceived physical limitations. We do not choose box jumps or heavy barbell lifts overhead…that is a recipe for disaster. We choose low impact, high results exercises like ZUU, Ankorr, VersaClimber, FRC, sled, prowler, battle ropes, and other body weight movements. This way we can increase force without increasing risk. It is important to take the body to a level that is beyond what the person perceives they can do, and then show them, it was their mind that decided that is where they needed to stop. In doing this, the mind and body is taught a valuable lesson. When the mind quits, the body quits…it is NEVER the other way around.

Staying Committed and Consistent For The Long Haul

Kettlebell Crew, Kettlebell Team, Kettlebell, strong, mental toughness, medals, medalThis is probably the hardest part of building mental strength. Discipline seems to be a bad word these days, but the rewards found after someone stays consistent for 100 training sessions, and ALWAYS INCREDIBLE!! Never once have I heard of someone saying they regretted working out three days per week for the last three years. Never once do I hear Innovative Results long time veterans complain of price and value. They understand the high value they receive, and they would probably pay triple what they pay to receive the training they earn every week.

May your next week be your best week, and may your mental toughness sore after reading these 6 tips.

The Busy Working Mom Workout and How Rebecca Toned Up

May 26, 2016 by IR Staff Leave a Comment

Orange County gym that helps people get results Rebecca had just given birth to her 3rd child and had 48 pounds to lose.

She was working full time, and involved in three community organizations.

Needless to say, she was a busy working mom.

She dropped about 32 pounds by diet adjustments and running alone.

She had done this before just after her first pregnancy – dropping 70 pounds!

But this time, Rebecca was having a hard time dropping the last 13-15 pounds.

She was a little older, and her time was more cramped.

She now was a working mother with one set of 4 year old twins and a newborn baby boy.

She also knew starting a fitness training program was going to take commitment and dedication – and that it wasn’t going to be easy.

To drop the weight and get toned Rebecca knew that a fitness training program would be difficult but worth it.

Check out Innovative Results, Rebecca’s busy working mom workout solution…

She wasn’t looking for a quick fix – she was looking for a solution to tighten her body and lose the weight.

Rebecca chose Innovative Results as her busy working mom workout, and hasn’t looked back since.

before after collageSince working with Rebecca she has lost 15 pounds, and she fits back into your ‘skinny jeans’.

Rebecca mentioned that she fits into the clothes she wore when she lost the weight of her first pregnancy – but now she weights 4 pounds heavier?!

“It’s not all about the number on the scale…I fit into my jeans that I wore when I weighed 114 – I weight 118 now – but I’m not ‘skinny fat’, I’ve developed tone. People get too freaked out about the scale… it’s all about the measurements,” states Rebecca.

Rebecca, like countless others that have come to Innovative Results, experiences the value of our training program with the way she looks, feels, and performs.

She loves being able to show up to her fitness training program, and have intelligent and caring fitness trainers build a program that delivers results every time.

She hates being in the limelight, and I wish I could show you pictures of her transformation.

However, we respect our client’s wishes at Innovative Results, so we can only tell you about her amazing success with us, showing you pictures of many of our other fitness clients’ before and after transformations.

Needless to say, you will be in great hands when you start training at The Orange County Fitness Playground.

Doctor Amazed By Health Results from Innovative Results Training For A Year

September 4, 2015 by Jessica Leave a Comment

Ankorr5

Below you will read the story from one of Innovative Results clients, and why his doctor was amazed by his health results.

The Innovative Results fitness gym and personal trainers care deeply about improving people’s quality of life, to include general health measured at annual doctor’s visits.

Read this client’s success story below…

Dear Innovative Results team:

I wanted to send you a hearty thank you for all that you do!

When I first came to Innovative Results fitness gym and personal trainers, my goal was to make it through 4 weeks of the training program without quitting or complaining and to diversify my physical fitness away from years of distance running for fitness.

Fitness gym in Orange CountyAfter 3 weeks at Innovative Results – The Orange County Fitness Playground, I was convinced that I could improve my fitness, and all around spirit, so I signed up for 6 months (for fear of being tempted to quit if I was on a month to month program).

Well, that was 2 ½ years ago!

My goals, which are posted at Innovative Results, are to push myself and continually improve my all around fitness and lifestyle.

Never in my wildest dreams did I consider my health readings. Last year, my doctor told me, my cholesterol and blood pressure levels were very high and he was concerned.

After that, I decided to change my workouts from three days to four days per week, to drink more water, watch my diet (nothing scientific) and get more sleep.

Gym in orange countyAt my most recent annual physical a few weeks ago, my doctor was amazed that my blood pressure and cholesterol levels dropped significantly to a very healthy level and exceeded his best case expectations, or predictions for me.

I’m now in the top percentage of health for guys my age (mid 40’s), a result I never thought possible.

In fact, I’m convinced these incredible improvements are a by-product of Innovative Results training program.

Thank you for all your great coaching, encouragement and unique training environment.

Next one best one!

How IR Helped ME Improve My Human Potential

September 26, 2014 by ptpt 1 Comment

RVCA MECB CrewWhen IR Coach Aaron Guyett asked people how IR helped them improve their human potential, this is what they said:
Keri Guyett – Challenged me to train and complete level II Ropes Certification

Mark Elmasry – Healing People

Mason Murphy – Perform at my highest level.

Will Waggoner – Shown me I can become stronger than I am.

Mike Gordon – Fitness and Flexibility

Rob Hendrix – It taught me that I was capable of doing so much more than I believed. First it was with exercise, but then it spread to other areas of my life.

Dorothea Kalatschan – Continuing to grow in a healthy way, reaching new levels…spiritually, mentally, and physically!!!

Courtney Wesson – Push, support, and motivation.

Elan Sudberg – IR provides a professional and structured yet nimble and out of the box mechanism to take primates trapped in cubes back to their animal roots where survival was physical and mental. We are physical beings not far removed from the jungles from which we walked out of and require movement to keep our bodies and minds healthy. Bam!!

Angie Miner – Pushed me with encouragement.

Jessica Ciske – Prioritize life experiences.

Kelly Colvin – Teamwork and community

Shannon Meade – Different mindset.

Emma Quick – Mental fortitude and pushing past my perceived limits!

Lewis Van Der Wryd – Helped me stand up. Literally. My spine is much more aligned now.

Reasons IR Boot Camp for Charity Supports GO Ministries – Part 1

December 5, 2013 by ptpt 1 Comment

If you have followed Innovative Results and learned of the Saturday Charity Boot Camps it is time to get a look at the bigger picture.

keely-with-girls-compassion-international-india-35341

There are many incredible charities working on the global and local level, so why has Innovative Results chosen to support The Crossing Church’s GO Ministries & Compassion International?

For one, Innovative Results proudly resides in Costa Mesa and many of our members make up active parts of local organizations, many of which branch from The Crossing Church.  As our dedicated clients support us, IR finds it extremely important to support our members and give back to the City of Costa Mesa.

Secondly, Innovative Results gets to experience stories like this one below, and understand just how amazing our members are and just how much impact that IR’s One Hour Boot Camp for Charity can have.

I have the honors of serving on The GO Ministry for India, Child Sponsorship Team  at The Crossing Church. I have so many great experiences from my first trip to India but the one that has marked me the most is a very simple story. One particular morning, I woke up to the sound of ringing bells coming from the floor below where all 30 orphaned boys and girls resided. I had already heard about this incredible routine these children had every single morning. I was curious and wanted to see for myself. When I went down, all of the children were already out of their beds either folding their blankets and placing them neatly at the end of their bunks, in line waiting to get toothpaste on their toothbrushes or taking  quick body baths with a wet cloth. I was so impressed by the discipline and no complaining. Many of them looked at me with sweet smiles even though you could tell they were still sleepy. But the one thing that caught my attention was when I was standing behind a young boy that was sitting on his bunk. At this orphanage, every child is given a metal chest box so they can place everything they own in it. Well, this particular boy had taken a letter from his metal box and carefully opened up the envelope as if it was made of gold. Then he pulled out a picture of an american family. He just sat there for about a minute starring at his new family. He then pulled out another letter and read the loving words that were written just for him. I had this feeling he did this every morning. Ever since then, my family and I have made it a discipline to send photos and loving words of encouragement to all 4 of our Indian children. I believe in my heart that not only does sponsoring make a difference in a child’s life but something as simple as writing words of life to a child lets them know they are very LOVED and very SPECIAL!

Help the IR Family Say Goodbye as Josh Begins a New Adventure!

October 23, 2013 by ptpt 4 Comments

Josh RugbyI am excited (and saddened) to celebrate the season Josh has spent with Innovative Results. I am excited because he has grown incredibly as a trainer, an athlete, a warrior, a man, and a brother.

He is an unforgettable piece forged into the legacy of Innovative Results.

I am saddened, because on November 10th–a special day for both of us (USMC B-day)–he will be stepping out on a new adventure. He

As you will see, we take care to see our family off in a loving and celebratory way, and we hope you can all join us as we give him a final goodbye these next few weeks.is called to his family of origin, and leaving his family here at Innovative Results (IR). We hope and pray it will be filled with the same celebrations, growth, and love that we all experienced from him while he walked out life with us at IR. Below he will describe in his own words what this place meant to him, and how much he cares for his clients, as he passes them to his beloved fellow trainers to continue their transformations.

– Aaron Guyett

A Letter from Josh Spencer:

Hey guys, so this has been a difficult decision for me to make, largely because Innovative Results has become such a great part of my life over the last two years. I am extremely grateful to Aaron and Corey for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to be a trainer here and to learn a ton of skills that I probably wouldn’t have cultivated anywhere else. The rest of the team has been amazing, even becoming some of the best friends I’ve ever had. As a transplant from a different state (via the Marine Corps) you have no idea how much it has personally meant to me to work with each and every one of you. It seriously brightens my day and has helped me adjust to civilian life more than taking any “normal” job ever could have. I love all of you guys and this adventure while working to help you achieve your goals has transformed me from being a stand-offish loner to becoming truly more open-hearted and compassionate for people everywhere.

However, the timing is right for me to move on to the next adventure. I feel a heavy burden to be near my family in Colorado, as some exciting things are happening for them. After 8 years of military service (with 7 of them being in California) I don’t want to wake up another 5, 7, or 10 years from now and realize that I never got a chance to serve the people that are the most important to me. I will be helping my dad and mom with their ministry, and helping my brothers achieve their career objectives as they launch separate but teamed-up media upstarts.

At the same time, I will be pursuing a Masters in Business Administration with the University of Colorado. Every single authority figure in my life, from my trainers, to my rugby coach, to my Battalion Commander have told me that now is the best time to pursue that education. I guess if I don’t listen to all that good advice then I’m not too bright!

Also, I will continue to hone my skills at rugby (there are two excellent teams in Denver, and I will hopefully be able to develop in one of their programs). I will also continue to find people to coach. I don’t know what that will look like specifically, maybe it will be a charity bootcamp through my church for my community, maybe it will be as an assistant rugby or strength coach at a college or high school, or maybe I will just take some youngin’s under my wing with some basic equipment. In any case coaching is in my blood, and you definitely haven’t seen the last of me yet 😉 Plus, I promise I’ll visit.

Oh, and by the way, I love you all and want to thank you for helping me become a better person, succeed at rugby, and enjoy a wonderful life while I was in California. Thank you.

The IR Team wishes you well Josh…IR Josh Epic

Your work ethic and enthusiasm while at IR has been contagious! When you came aboard and joined the team you helped us, (me especially) learn what it is to work and function as a team. Your discipline and dedication to IR was something I noticed immediately. You always seem to have a smile on your face and your non-stop positivity has definitely rubbed off on me and has really helped shape me into a better trainer. Believe it or not, working with you for these past few years has truly had a positive impact on me as a trainer and as a person…thank you for the time we have been able to spend with each other, it has been grand.

P.S. I will miss those super short shorts, almost midriff shirts, and pasty white legs the most.

-Eddie Thomson

Whenever he’s at the gym, the energy goes up, great encourager, motivator, teacher, and friend. Wherever in life his journey may take him I know that because of his endless drive to succeed and his happy and jovial attitude he will find success. I know that the relationships he’s made at IR will be lifelong and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for this leader among men.

– Jeff DeRitter

#1, hands down the coolest thing about Josh is that we share the same birthday, which by default makes you AWESOME 🙂 More importantly I did recently read this quote by Henry Rollins…

“If you have an idea of what you want to do in your future, you must
go at it with almost monastic obsession, be it music, the ballet or just a
basic degree.

You have to go at it single-mindedly and let nothing get in your way.”

When Josh told me he was leaving and we discussed where his mind went in the last couple months while making this decision, reading this quote made me immediately think of him. Josh has the life and work attitude of “If its going to be done, its going to be done RIGHT” and that is incredibly motivating to see and have been a apart of since his arrival at IR. Thank you and Best Wishes for your future Josh!

– Jessica Ciske

Josh Cori Event Table

You’ve been my partner in crime since I started here. You took me under your wing and made me instantly feel welcome. I will miss you sooooo much. I will miss your crop tops and short shorts. I will miss our awkward dance parties and bad jokes. Training with you has been so much fun and I don’t think I’ll ever have a better training partner. I wish you the best of luck, but I know you won’t need it! 🙂

– Cori Lefkowith

If there is one person who can successfully train like batman it’s josh. Josh is extremely active and continues to improve his performance and this trait is also carried out in his job. Josh has brought in a number of clients that has helped expand IR and always gives his best. Great trainer and even greater friend. You will be missed.

– Lewis Van Der Wyrd

Josh is a tough marine that intimidated me in the beginning. Toughness and a strong character, the kind you only find in a strong and loyal dog. He reminds me of my pitbull Muggsy, except Josh has a goofiness unparalleled by any creature. Josh loves and will stay loyal to Innovative Results forever. Josh, your my dawg!

-Mark Elmasry

People have some incredible stories. We all grow up in different environments, with different beliefs and experience different things along the way. Josh brought a very straight forward, honest, well thought out, opinion to all of our meetings and training sessions. His experience in the military and intellectual thought processes helped improve IR’s service to the community. We are thankful for Josh’s input, time and friendship while he was with us and a look forward to staying up to date on all of his future adventures!

Kim is Back at IR and Conquering New Challenges

May 18, 2012 by ptpt 1 Comment

Kimberly Newnam came back for more!

In May 2010, I contacted Innovative Results through an advertisement on a wedding planning website. My plan was to get in shape for my upcoming wedding. What ended up happening was one month in I felt like I was in the best shape of my life! I was definitely nervous to begin the training, but by a stroke of luck, I was paired up with Jeff DeRitter who completely made me feel at ease and made the training fun. Honestly – I actually almost threw up the first couple of times! But it got easier as time went on and I was motivated to continue post wedding for the rest of my 6 month contract. The comments from friends and strangers on the transformation of my body didn’t hurt either!

I had continued working out on my own since I left IR, but it just didn’t feel the same.

Fast forward to a month ago.  I contacted Jeff and begged him to fit me into his schedule. I even agreed to come in for morning workouts. Which as Jeff will tell you I am NOT a morning person! This time around it is easier to be motivated because I have seen the results and I want it back!

A couple of sessions in to my return to the gym, I was asked to join the Transformation Challenge. What a way to jump back in!!!! It has been a great re-introduction to the IR team and it is nice to see all the changes that have happened over the past year in the gym. I hope that in the months to follow I can change as much as the gym itself has. The Transformation Challenge has definitely kick-started that change and I look forward to continuing it!”

The Team Transformation Challenge helped Kim decrease her body fat by 3% in the first month!  IR is thrilled to continue seeing Kim achieve each of her goals!
