When I first met, Anshika, she came off as smart, focused, and didn’t want to waste her time and money on a fitness trainer and fitness training program that didn’t work.

When did you start training at Innovative Results?

I joined Innovative results around 2006 or 2007.

It’s so long that I don’t even remember…ha ha ha!

I had my first baby in 2005.

I had gained 70 pounds.

I did come back to my original weight which is 105 pounds, but was left with loads of loose skin and felt horrible.

My confidence had gone, and my stamina left with my confidence.

The regular gym was boring, and I didn’t have time to run everyday.

Innovative Results was a god send, and fell in love with their style right away.

Around that time Innovative results was a pioneer in its style.

All the crossfits and bootcamps that you see now, started much later.

What have you improved since you started training with Innovative Results?

I have had 2 pregnancies with Innovative Results.

I have not only come back to my original weight, but got back my muscle and body toned within no time.

My metabolism, sleep pattern, stamina has improved tremendously.

Losing 60 pounds and finishing my first half marathon in 2 hrs 20 mins is enough for me to have confidence in my coaches and my playground Innovative Results.

What keeps you coming back to Innovative Results?

The workouts at Innovative results are never boring.

I have never felt that I am doing the same exercise every time.

Everyday exercise regime concentrates on a different body parts like upper body, legs and of course bootcamp and crossfit style training is never forgotten.

How has Innovative Results improved the other areas of your life (i.e. work, relationships, finances, education)?

I have high tolerance to pain, have much more stamina, can be on foot all day, and am able to enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and biking for longer hours.

What advice do you have for someone who is just getting started with Innovative Results?

Weight loss, lean body mass are goals that can be accomplished if you are persistent and consistent with your exercise regime and good diet.

So have patience, you will achieve it.

I have become more confident.

I can carry myself in any outfit.

I love food and I don’t feel guilty anymore.

Who would you want to experience what you get to experience at Innovative Results?

All my close friends.

I feel whosoever is not part of this family is losing in a lot of things.

Why do you stay committed to your improvement in and out of the gym?

Stay fit and healthy and a successful runner with least aches and pains have always been my top priorities.

I Am Constantly Seeing Little Improvements at This Costa Mesa Gym – The Orange County Fitness Playground

When did you start training at Innovative Results?

8 years ago.

Why did you start training with Innovative Results?

I first started with Keri after meeting her in our women’s bible study group in Costa Mesa.

She and I clicked.

I have always worked out but my workout partner moved and my morning habit was slagging.

I thought maybe a trainer would help pull me out of my slump.

What have you improved since you started training with Innovative Results?

orange county gym, orange county personal trainerI’m constantly seeing little improvements and being prompted for the bigger ones that need to happen.

Since I have started, I’m definitely stronger all over.

I can do a handstand against a wall.

I have improved my thought process and learning.

This is a hard one to answer actually.

I would say overall balance of daily living.

Hearing your voice “next one best one” and “you can do anything for 15 sec.”

I can push through whatever barrier I’m dealing with throughout my day.

What kept you coming back to Innovative Results?

The workouts we were doing at this Costa Mesa Gym were fun and varied daily.

I learned a lot as far as there are more things to do in a treadmill than run.

When you were switching buildings and we worked out in the park….what a blast.

It was/is fun!

Now it has become even more of a family setting.

The people that have crossed my path through Innovative Results and the new friendships and relationships have been built in that one hour–what a great way to start your day!

I just need to add more days…

How has Innovative Results improved the other areas of your life (i.e. work, relationships, finances, education)?

Lately it has been so awesome to watch the students struggle and laugh as they workout with Aaron and me knowing that “I can do that.”

I actually want to just jump in and workout with them.

Hearing the teachers walk by and be so full of joy as they talk about their afternoon workouts.

But mostly it has been watching the growth of two people and them finding their passions and talents.

Education as far as learning about rolling out, different stretches for different ailments, and obtaining cardio without necessarily running.

What advice do you have for someone who is just getting started with Innovative Results?

How has your life changed since you started training at Innovative Results?

The thought of going to the “regular” gym has become painful to think about–glad to have The Orange County Fitness Playground.

I have hit an age and time of life where I have to work out at least five to six days a week if I am going to see any change at all, but everything else (traditional gyms, etc.) is pretty boring in comparison.

Who would you want to experience what you get to experience at Innovative Results?

I will get my husband to return, and I want to get my son to try it out.

I’m still working on that.

But seriously, I feel that every athletic team at Newport Harbor High School should be using Innovative Results as part of their workout regime.

I honestly and completely feel there would be less injuries and more strength.

Innovative Results Fitness Gym Gives Me Strength and Confidence To Stay Active As I Get Older

Below are his answers to our interview.

When did you start training at Innovative Results?

Why did you start training with Innovative Results?

After my kids were born, I became less active and got out of shape pretty quick.

Wanted to get back into shape to have the energy to enjoy activities with them.

What have you improved since you started training with Innovative Results?

Overall fitness. I’m stronger and overall mobility has increased since I stared at Innovative Results.

I’m still able to compete in basketball leagues against guys 10-15 years younger than me.

What kept you coming back to Innovative Results?

Workouts, trainers, and members. Great workout environment, no workout is the same and anyone can do them.

Everyone is encouraging and you don’t feel intimidated to try anything.

Orange County Fitness PlaygroundHow has Innovative Results improved the other areas of your life (i.e. work, relationships, finances, education)?

Working out at Innovative Results has improved my overall health.

I now have more energy to make it through the work day.

I used to rely heavily on bad snacks to get me through the workday, but now I’m much more alert and focused without having to snack.

What advice do you have for someone who is just getting started with Innovative Results?

Be patient and stay focused.

At first some of the workouts can be intimidating and difficult.

Go at your own pace and you’ll see improvement in your fitness in no time.

Everyone is there to help and encourage you.

I now have the energy to keep up with my 3 kids and their activities.

They’re now getting to the age where we can enjoy activities together.

I just turned 40 and just because I’m older doesn’t mean I can’t stay fit and live a healthy lifestyle.

5 Steps To Get Fast Results in the Gym – Do You Go To The Gym or Do You Get Results?

These people show up a few days a week, some more, but their bodies aren’t changing.

Why do they keep showing up at the gym?

Are they wasting their time?

I’m sure most of them figure that they are earning points for showing up…points with the doctor, their wife, their husband, status among friends or on social media check-ins

Some probably just show up out of habit or guilt.

Some of these reasons deal with other people…the ‘feeling like I have to go’ motivation, which is very weak in most cases, but most people’s motivation really stems at their own self esteem and ego about looking better.

There is major motivation there.

But if someone just feels like they need to lose some weight, and buys a gym membership, there is no connection or deep-seeded reason to create the discipline and consistent effort that is needed to change.

In order to get the fast, jaw dropping results, that we all desire, you are going to have to work…work hard…work consistently and probably have to make some serious lifestyle changes to make it happen.

Instead of just going to the gym, here are 5 steps to get fast results in the gym:

Orange County Workout Chris Six Pack AbsStep 1. Mindset – Write down your Key Fitness Goal. If you are gonna bust your but for six months or a year in the gym, get clear on what your main goal is for that time. What is your desired outcome? How do you want your body to look like, feel like, or perform like? What will change?

*the key when writing your goals the to use the SMART Goal method. It needs to be specific, measurable, ‘As if now’, realistic and time based. For example: Today is December 31st, 2016 and I, Aaron Guyett, have lost 15 pounds. Think about it and write the most important change down.

healthy food collageStep 2. Nutrition is the most misunderstood, and most important factor you will deal with. People are seriously emotional when it comes to eating, and most think of nutrition changes as some torturous and agonizing penalty that forces them to eat salads everyday of their life. Nothing could be further from the truth. When you really learn what is healthy, and how to properly integrate new foods into your lifestyle, you will be surprised how good healthy and whole food really is.

* The simplest way think of healthy eating is this: If GOD made it, eat it…or if it occurs in nature, eat it. If people messed with it, RUN! People have taken naturally occurring, amazing foods, and ruined them. We have ruined food by processing, pasteurizing, refining, adding, preserving, genetically modifying, adding chemicals, packaging, and the list can go on! The best cooks and athletes in the entire world only work with top quality ingredients and we should, too.

Gym in orange countyStep 3. Movement is the basis for exercise and most people spend their life at a desk, in a car and in front of the television. And we wonder why our backs and knees and ankles hurt. Most people need to get off the couch and go for a walk or get to the gym. When we belong to a gym, we either never go, or are inconsistent, losing intensity and progression when we are there. Innovative Results believes this comes from behaviors, habits, lack of motivation and lack of knowledge. If you are uncertain about starting to workout or how to change up your current plan, ask us for help. That is what we have spent the last 15 years getting right.

*If you do look to hire a personal trainer, fitness coach, and nutrition coach, please take the time to investigate a place and person that has proven results. Every local bodybuilder, gym rat or newbie fitness trainer does not understand the body, much less your body. If you look for advise, make sure the person is qualified and has experience dealing with people like yourself.

If you go from sitting behind a desk to working out three to five days per week, you are going to encounter some minor aches and pains. Working hard in the gym may create some soreness, muscle tightness and other aches and pains. There are a variety of recovery tactics that have worked wonders for myself and my clients. * remember to start slow and listen to your body. Please take the time to learn movements correctly, and consult a physician if any pains last more than a few days or swelling occurs.

Step 5. Guidance and Coaching during your new program is essential. Having someone that can teach you, motivate, and encourage you during your fitness program will be a huge factor in your success. It is proven that working out with a partner increases your chances of success significantly! It will help you work harder, spot, correct, and make sure that you are doing things safely and properly.

* Find someone who will hold you accountable, so that you don’t get off track. Accountability and intelligent programming is key for faster results. Find somebody intelligent, that cares about you success, and listen to them to keep you focused.

I truly hope that these five steps helps you and motivates you more than the obstacles or temptations you may have.

When you work hard, and make huge progress, people WILL notice.

They will be motivated, and will look to you as an example.

You will earn an kind of instant respect from people that know you.

It will help you stand out from the crowd, and you will start to carry yourself more confidently.

The Busy Working Mom Workout and How Rebecca Toned Up

Orange County gym that helps people get results Rebecca had just given birth to her 3rd child and had 48 pounds to lose.

She was working full time, and involved in three community organizations.

Needless to say, she was a busy working mom.

She dropped about 32 pounds by diet adjustments and running alone.

She had done this before just after her first pregnancy – dropping 70 pounds!

But this time, Rebecca was having a hard time dropping the last 13-15 pounds.

She was a little older, and her time was more cramped.

She now was a working mother with one set of 4 year old twins and a newborn baby boy.

The Story of That Last Little Bit of Fat – Losing the Last Ten Pounds

Why can’t the mirror just make it disappear?

And while I am talking about it, my pants would feel better without it, and don’t even get me started on how my shirts and blouses would fit without it.

When I step on the scale, it is still sitting there, reminding me of everything I don’t want to hear, see, or feel…

I have ten pounds of unwanted, undesirable, and un-removable body fat…I feel like I have tried everything, and it is still there, taunting me with its jiggly, bloated, bulging presence.

love handleHow do I lose the last little bit of fat?

This story has been told by all of us, and even though it feels like the last ten is stuck there forever, this does not have to be the story.

First, let me premise this story with the understanding that there is a necessary and healthy need for body fat, and it helps the male and female body look attractive. I am not here to help the person who is looking to starve and over-train every ounce of fat from their body.

I am here to help the person that truly has ten pounds (or more) of unnecessary body fat, which is doing more harm than good.

I am talking about the knee-pain-inducing, high-blood-pressure-raising,  heart-disease-increasing, depression-promoting, back-breaking ten or more pound of body fat.


We all see the shining light at the end of the tunnel. The shining light is where we have lost the ten pound baggage that has been weighing us down for too long, and now we are free to move, feel, and look amazing!

We know it is not going to be easy, and yet for some reason we want to hear someone tell us, “all you have to do, is keep doing what you have been doing, and it will gone.” or “Just do this one exercise for five minutes a day, and that little bit of fat will disappear before your eyes.”

Unfortunately, we all know this is not true, because we have been doing the same thing for (insert insanely long period of time here), and nothing has changed.

We also know that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing, and expecting a different results, yet it is so easy to keep doing our routine. Is that because we are creatures of habit? Yes.

What if we could make a slight change to our habits, and see a HUGE result?

Time after time at Innovative Results and throughout my time as a fitness trainer and fitness coach, I have seen the longest lasting, biggest transformations–especially with the “last ten pound club”–from those that stay dedicated to making small habit changes for good.

The three simple steps to lose the last ten pounds are record your nutrition intake (to include hydration), twenty minutes of relaxed, focused breathing, and show up consistently to an intelligent fitness training program.

Step 1 – Record Your Nutrition Intake, Which Includes Hydration

ir_3_nutrition_prepThis daily habit change, does not mean you have to go on a crazy diet, or fast with lemon-juice and ginger for forty days, or throw away everything in your kitchen, replacing it with fresh-picked hipster organic farm goodness.

Recording your nutrition is a way for you to teach yourself what you are eating.

Sounds dumb, but it is effective, which also means it is not dumb.

You would be surprised to hear that every single person I have asked to track their nutrition, has told me some rendition of, “Wow! I did not realize this juice had so much sugar in it.” or “Wow! A half a cup of rice seems so small on my plate.”

We live in America where convenience, incredible marketing, and big/more/bigger is the way of life, especially with food.

You can imagine how much help it is to add daily nutrition tracking of your food intake.

This small habit will completely change your life, and it is so easy to implement with smart phones and apps there is no excuse but to implement it today.

Step 2 – Twenty Minutes of Relaxed, Focused Breathing

breathing techniquesThere are too many studies that recount the goodness and improvement that come from focused breathing, daily relaxation, prayer, and meditation, but I want to look at this time from a different perspective.

Think about this time as a reset button.

When your day is starting to choke you out, or last night’s lack of sleep refuses to be conquered by coffee, take twenty minutes to improve your mood, relax, de-stress, unwind, and focus on one thing, your breath, instead of the million things on your list.

If this turns into a twenty minute nap, than we know you probably needed more sleep anyway, which helps our metabolic and hormonal function.

If you keep thinking about all the things you need to do or want to do, bring a pad of paper, write it down and take care of it after your breathing time, and then refocus back on your breath.

This reset is crucial for your mindset during this time of change and renewed habits.

Every time you take twenty minutes to reset yourself mentally, you are also resetting yourself physically. Whatever mistakes you made or problems you had are now gone and in the past.

You are no longer weighed down by shame, guilt, or past habits.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life, and you have the opportunity to make a new you with a new day.

Step 3 – Show Up Consistently To an Intelligent Fitness Training Program

2016-01-12 10.11.51Showing up is the hardest part, especially if you have a million things on your list, or you don’t feel perfect, or you are feeling the darkness of the tunnel, not the shinyness of the light at the end of the tunnel.

Once you show up, all you have to do is join in the calculated exercise program, and you always feel better.

If the program is a smash-fest or it is variable and inconsistent, you probably won’t feel better, so don’t get sucked into these dark holes.

Seek out good coaching, encouraging environments, and tried and true methods for your exercise program and fitness training.

Whether it is one-on-one, group training, classes, or do-it-yourself exercise programs, make sure it is progressive, enjoyable, and helpful.

Progressive workouts build on themselves, instead of randomly putting together a bunch of exercises, and saying, “do it more and do it harder and do it more harder with intensity”…sounds weird, but because of our culture this is one of the biggest mistakes when trying to lose the last ten, because the stress of these workouts add to the stress of your day, and set your hormones up for fat-retaining failure.

Enjoyable workouts are going to be a personal choice, because where I see sweaty, disheveled mats with twisted figures hiding pain, many of you see a relieving, reviving, toxin-expelling, breath of fresh mobility, called hot-yoga.

Find something you enjoy, and stick to it long enough to build a deeper than paper relationship with the instructors and coaches that can only help you if they see you more than once or twice per month.

If we focus on these three areas as new, small habit adjustments, we will begin to see where our body and mind is most healthy in terms of body fat and lean body mass.

You will see that the ten pounds have melted away, and you have new lines, curves, jeans, shirts, and relationships that you never would have thought possible.

Your relationship with the mirror, scale, closet, pictures, and people have improved, along with your quality of life.

What to do when your weight loss slows down or stops

So many people start a weight loss program with good intentions.

They start exercising, eating a little better and thinking about the wonderful results they desire.  The initial “honeymoon” phase is exciting.  Workouts are challenging, its fun to do something new and you seem to be changing and making progress to meet your weight loss goals every week!

“This is incredible.  At this pace, I will be looking good in no time!”

Then, after a few weeks of consistent effort, the results come to a halt!  You’re still working out, but you’re not getting stronger and you haven’t lost a pound this week.

What gives?

Our bodies are incredible at adapting to the stimulus that we throw at it.  Initially running 2 miles might seem impossible, but over time our body adapts and learn how to run a couple miles efficiently.  Your body adapts, gets used to running that distance and doesn’t need to change much to run that distance.

Think of it this way.  If you don’t drink coffee and you have a cup around 5pm, what happens?  Odds are you aren’t going to bed any time soon!  Your body isn’t used to it.  If you drink 3 Starbucks everyday and you have a cup at 4pm, you probably don’t notice anything.  Adapting to exercise is very similar.

If you want to change, you need to keep your body guessing.

When your weight loss slows down or stops, you probably stopped challenging your self and making improvements to your lifestyle.

Ask yourself the following questions:

Is my workout always the same?

Am I using the same weights (or running the same distance) I did last week?

Am I focussed when I workout or distracted?

Are my eating habits consistent with my goals?

Have I been consistently working out, eating good foods and sleeping?

Am I letting urgent things in my life distract me the importance of my health?

Odds are, if your results have slowed down, one (or all) of these answers were not ideal.  Take a step back and think about the last week or two and write down a few things that you could improve upon.  What habits are keeping you from making progress and achieving your goals?  Go ahead, write em down.

Next, its time to throw your body a curve ball.  Mix up your workouts by changing the following variables:

  • Change the exercises you do.  Try new movements or activities
  • Change the resistance.  If you use machines, try free weights or cables.
  • Shorten the rest period between sets.  Stop chatting and get to work!
  • Try multiple movements in a row, without rest.  2-5 movements in a circuit
  • Up the intensity!  Push yourself a little harder than last week.
  • Go to the gym focused.  Each day should have a plan or specific goal. Know why you’re there.
  • Change your environment.  Go to a new gym or run a new route.  Try something totally new.

The key to turbo charging your workouts is to stay on your toes and keep your body guessing.  We are all creatures of habit, but you need to keep mixing your workouts up and trying new things.  So, this week try something new and you will be happily surprised by the wave of new progress and excitement that follows!
