I already have a gym membership…
Most gyms offer a place to workout, full of equipment, questionable music and maybe even some tvs but gym memberships are destined for failure.
Did you realize that 80% of gym members, never attend their gym?
What about hiring a personal trainer?? Joining a boot camp??
Honestly, most personal trainers or boot camps in Orange County may help guide you thru a workout, but is the workout right for you…or is it just tough? Remember, the goal is to get you results, not just kick your butt and send you home.
Any fool can create a tough workout, but only the best trainers can heal you and make you work hard.
So, we have spent the last couple years learning, growing, adapting and working with hundreds of people to find the best way to get people RESULTS! We realized that results don’t come from just working out. Real, long lasting results come from a combination of proper mindset, movement and recovery.
Our bodies are incredibly complex and require a balance of these three categories. If one aspect gets out of whack, then our progress/results will suffer. Let’s briefly walk through each of these categories and discuss why they are so important and how they affect your progress.
Developing the right mindset is absolutely vital! I’m sure you’ve heard that before, but what does that really mean. Well, Innovative Results believes that mindset has 3 subcategories that include: Attitude, Motivation and Support.
- Attitude – You control your attitude every day and walking into your workout (and the rest of your day) with the right attitude is the foundation of developing a better mindset. What are your most dominant thoughts? What does your speech say about you? Do your actions speak louder than your words?
- Motivation – “If a man is sufficiently motivated, discipline will take care of itself.” Setting goals is great, but finding out “why” you want something is essential. Do you know what you want? Do you know why you want it? What potential excuses may deter your progress?
- Support – Having a support system elevates everyone’s game. The very best athletes in the world have a supportive team of people that help guide them along the way. So, if you are looking to make some lifestyle changes, where do you workout? Who do you get information from? How do the people you see everyday help you achieve your goals?
How does your mindset affect your day?
Take a few minutes and think about the questions above. I guarantee that you could work on at least one aspect listed…I know I have to work on several!
Stay tuned for Part 2 where we’ll discuss how movement affects us and answer some common questions like:
What type of exercise is best for me?
How do I make progress without over training or getting injured?
How do I vary workouts to speed results?
and more…
Sometimes its easy to forget how the important the mind is when it come to having goals. The brain is powerful and if used correctly can tremendously help us in achieving our goals. Definitely going to work on mindset!
Exercise is so much more than just getting your body into shape; its about changing the way you think about your body and seeing yourself as in control, not food or circumstances. I think the mental battle is one of the biggest obstacles to overcome in any kind of exercise program.
Mindset plays a HUGE roll in exercise. I definitely agree that in order to get your body where you want it, you have to tackle the three subcategories above. I know working out goes so much better when I adjust my attitude, check where my motivation's coming from, and stay plugged into my support system.

I've never thought about mindset affecting the workouts you have. I would have never imagined that the way I think and the way I approach things had that much effect on the way I go about them. I know this is true with athletics, going to practice day after day, doing the same things over and over, you have to grind through it and think about the payoff for it. However, in everyday life, this mindset can carry you far and carry you to your goals. I need to be better at actually realizing my goals and then writing out the process to reach them.

I absolutely agree that someone's mindset will make or break their success. This goes with anything, especially changing habits and having a good workout. Reflecting on my own experiences, I use self-talk when I'm on my way to the gym. I pump myself up for an amazing workout. This is how I get results, and I'm glad to see that it is in the core of IRs philosophy of getting results.
The mind is a powerful tool. And your mindset plays a huge roll in your life. In life there are no limitations just the ones you place on yourself. A quote I like by Les Brown “too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears.” How I interpret this quote is instead of living in fear of what could happen start doing things out of your heart and be the person you want to be.
Very true very true. The classes at 24 are packed with people desperate to get into shape. Many men are going crazy at the machines trying to get into beach shape. But what they do not know is the science behind it. Innovative results definately has proper insight as to what's going on in your body and how the body works including proper stretch techniques.
You would comment on this…

In my personal experience mindset is everything. I agree that if a person knows what they want and why they want it everything else falls into place. Once you know those two things then you will naturally seek out the best environment and people to be around. Mindset, Movement, and Recovery are truly the staples of Innovative results, and they are amazing principles to follow when trying to achieve your goals.
Mindset does really play a role in your exercise, Iv done a workout where I just felt unmotivated, and my workout was not the best. I was not the best. I knew I could push myself but I couldnt get myself too. I think if I would have taken time to breath and change my mindset before starting my run or before I step in to the gym, I could have gotten a better workout. Mindset is everything!
So true! Knowing why you want something is very important! Recently I’ve had to ask myself why I want to do a figure competition, I already knew I wanted to do it but I finally figured out why and that is making me push harder toward my goal. So knowing why helps a ton! Having an awesome support team (aka my family) is great too! They know my dreams and help keep me on track. You definitely need motivation, especially if you have a gym membership! It is so true most people claim they have a membership and never end up going. They need to be more motivated to go they need that extra push! That is why it is good to have a support team! 🙂
As explained in more detail in the “Out of Shape, Start Here!” article, mindset should be the first thing addressed for any individual before trying to make any changes in life. An individual is setting limits for themselves if they have a negative mindset. But if that individual can change that mindset to a positive one, there is no ceiling to his or her growth. This mindset must be maintained through attitude, motivation, and support in order for an individual to reach his or her goal. Bottom line is, we all have different lives and come from different situations. It is how we internalize these situations and respond to them that determines the direction we will go. Working out is just one small aspect in changing one’s mindset, making better decisions in work, relationships, and daily situations are all part of the big picture in solidifying a positive mindset.
The mind is an amazing thing and the idea of a support team is incredibly necessary, although one can be a great self motivator, he could eventually start to see doubt in his actions or feel a lack of motivation at some points and if there is no support system there then thats a recipe for failure.
I like how this article explains how IR is so organized. It explains how everything is very well thought out, and how they just want you to improve everyday. It shows how everyone at IR wants you to succeed and they’re uniqueness. It’s not just some regular gym with equipment. They really care here.
I believe it is true that results do not come from just working out; you have to give it your all. I have known people who have had personal training sessions but felt defeated due to the toughness of the workout the trainers insisted they do; those people were not motivated to workout and were discouraged. I think it is great that at Innovative Results the work outs are personalized to the person and there is motivation and support given to encourage a positive mindset. When a positive mind is set on anything you will see results!
Mindset is the the biggest link in the chain. The mind will quit long before the body will quit. A good example is how sometimes the simplest thing can become the most frustrating all due to a bad mindset. It goes the same when people are trying to get into better shape. If you have a good mindset that will allow you to work hard and see results. A bad mindset will just have you just going through the motions and nothing will be accomplished. To give a real world example of how important mindset is, the famous basketball coach Phil Jackson is known for not only having his teams meditate but also for having them spend time right before a game just visualizing the entire game. Having them visualize exact movements and plays in the game. This way when the players went into the game, they were more focused and in a better mindset because they had already played the game in their mind.
Your mind controls everything your body your thoughts your actions your beliefs and whats Better then having a right mindset cause if you dont many havent realized but mostlikely things will not get done. Having the right motivation can be very affective wether its a better job or life or your children it is always great to improve your self as much as you can and its more motivational when you surround your self with great support such as friends and family “if you hang with a pack of wolves you will learn to howl at the moon” surround your self with the right pack and you might just end up leading it to the top with you.
I think all people in all walks of life should learn the fundamentals of having a positive mindset. In my experience working with guys on my crew you know when someone has a negative mindset or attitude, it reflects on to everyone else not just one person. So in turn I was motivated to have a positive attitude every time I walked in the door because i knew not only would it help me get the job done, it would help my guys out around me to work as a team and they would become positive too. Nothing is more important than a positive mindset and nothing makes me happier than to change someone elses bad day into a good one..
Having the right mindset is not only vital for exercising, but in everyday life. I think it’s important for majority of the population to find that motivation to go out and engage in some kind of physical activity. A sedentary lifestyle is so prevalent in today’s society that when they do take the first step, that is huge! Everything else will fall into place. Because most of our activities in America are automated, people do things for us or entertainment through the roof, I get excited just to see someone mowing the lawn, or washing their car. To me anything is better than nothing. Movement is more important than ever today!
Mindset, Movement, and Recovery. The mind is an incredibly powerful thing, and simply through altering how one views exercise, great changes can occur. For me, the portion of mindset that I needed to work on was the motivation. I have a good support group, and I have made my goals, but until very recently, my motivation level was not very high. However, through reaching out to people on the same path as me, I have been able to focus, and actually see results. The fact that IR helps every client with all three aspects of true fitness and development is much more effective than selling someone a gym membership, and helps foster all three aspects of mindset.
One question asked: “What potential excuses may deter your progress?” and I think that’s a really good question. Many times we’re told to right down our goals and name how we’ll accomplish but rarely are we asked to point out the excuses that we’ll probably make to get out of work. I have found that in my life 99% of my excuses are usually something that I could have prevented or controlled. The other 1% is usually a natural disaster or a family emergency. Other than that there are no excuses. During this season my main excuse was being too knotted and too tight for my body to be able to function and perform at the level required for competition. This was true, but I can’t honestly say that I was doing my best get rid of every knot. I made an excuse for that excuse which was backed up by another excuse and the cycle continued. All valid reasons to why I wasn’t performing as well as I could have but all controllable.
The proper mindset is possibly one of the most important things that is required before you start a workout. You also need the motivation or you will never complete your task. Your mind is the most important tool you have and one that should never be ignored.
A passion to help individuals succeed is at the core of Innovative Results. This automatically separates it from other fitness facilities that are motivated by members and money. IR creates a goal for the clients to seek out what they really want in life, both in the gym and outside of it. “Real, long lasting results come from a combination of proper mindset, movement, and recovery.” It is more than just exercise, it is developing a lifestyle in the mind and body to move confidently towards the goals we desire. IR states the subcategories of mindset to be attitude, motivation, and support. As humans, we have control of the wiring of our brain, and we can shape our thoughts to either be completely beneficial, or not. We have to continuously create good thoughts, so they can reflect into beneficial actions. We create our motivation by understanding what our goals are and why they are important to us. Then we surround ourselves with support, both giving and receiving it, to empower us to reach our greatest potential.
Our minds are so incredible and yet we can make them our own worst enemy. I agree wholeheartedly that motivation is key to achieving goals, attitude is the starting point for success, and support is how we make it through the obstacles that get in our way. No one can just focus on “what they want” but there must be a drive for “why they want” to achieve certain goals. How will changing anything in your life make it better, if you don’t have a strong desire and reason for wanting to do it? If there is no motivation for wanting to do a certain task, then will there be motivation to keep doing it no matter how beneficial it can be?
Having the right mindset applies to all aspects of our lives, jobs, workouts, family. Without the right mindset finding motivation to push through difficult tasks is that much harder. The right mindset is key to accomplishing any goal and having a good support group is crucial to achieving goals. That is why I chose Innovative Results.
This journey starts and ends with you, make sure you’re doing the best you can do by applying these important questions about yourself and the environment you place yourself in. Mindset is the biggest aspect, but you can’t just focus on the mindset alone, if you can’t find what motivates you then your attitude will reflect. If your support system isn’t reinforcing your changes, your mindset will revert back, don’t overlook any one of these aspects.
Mindset Uber Alles! This is one of the aspects of IR’s methods that I believe really set it apart from other organizations. “Mindset” is one of those ideas that’s certainly paid plenty of lip-service these days, but to take a proactive approach in helping people develop a positive attitude is key to success and a unique offering! Also somewhat difficult; I feel like nowadays, it’s almost a weird badge of honor to be jaded, or to be lackadaisical and unmotivated, at least in public, but that’s no way to live! The more people can be taught that it’s ok to be positive, to be motivated, and that it’s ok to ask for help and support, the more those folks’ll be successful, in just about every endeavor.
IR acknowledges that there is much more to getting fit than just completing workouts. It emphasizes that people can take control of both their bodies and soul with the right mindset, movement and recovery. Mindset is very important when striving to achieve your goals. Your brain is extremely powerful and with a positive attitude and discipline, the body is capable of almost anything. When I have the right mindset when setting goals I am much more likely to stay motivated. Having a strong foundation and support is also important in order to accomplish your goals. Personally, being apart of a basketball team I have learned this to be very true.
Speaking from past experience, your mental game has more to do with training than most would believe. Working as a full time single parent, constantly building my business, “taking care of myself”, were just a few of the things constantly going through my mind when I really started working out. The results weren’t as great as I had hoped for at the time, but now in hindsight, it made me realize what my real priorities were and are. I’ve been to many types of gyms and have done different types of workouts but until you are mentally focused, have a great support system, and are motivated for the right reasons, you may find yourself going in circles wondering why it isn’t working. Once again, it all comes down to your mental game! Stay positive, get motivated and find some good support! You will become more amazing!
I have answered all of the questions above because in order to truly understand my personal goals, strategies, and potential barriers I must brainstorm and be self aware.
Lately my most dominant thoughts are all about where my life is heading and the fact that I am in control. I think that waking up and getting out of bed is where it starts, we need to understand, clearly, that we GET to get out of bed every morning. Starting off with positivity, living in the now, and trying to spread those positive vibes to everything that surrounds you is extremely important to help guide y
our own thoughts to be positive.
What I want is to get as close to human optimization as I can because achieving optimization is achieving a positive mindset. Potential excuses that will deter my progress is having a bad supporting cast and falling into bad habits.
For lifestyle changes you must work out somewhere that conforms to your life style and is something that you actually enjoy doing or else you will just be stuck paying for a gym membership that you don’t even use. I get my information from podcasts such as the Joe Rogan Experience and Onnit academy. Most people around me support me fully in what ever it is that I chose to do with my life. This support cast helps me to be positive and believe in myself.
Life has its ups and downs. When we are on the upswing, motivation and attitude are effortless and come naturally. When we are on the downswing we may need some external motivation from our support group. IMO- while it is possible for a person to achieve at a moderately high level with just motivation and attitude- it is very unlikely that a person can maintain that level of achievement without the support group. The highest levels of sustained achievement are absolutely not possible without the support group- see top level athletes, business people and so on for examples.
Other gyms don’t compare to the core foundation at IR, and those gyms will be all gone in a matter of time I believe. Having a mindset that is based off your motivation, attitude, and your support really is the right key for success along with meeting goals. We are products of our own environment, its up to us to decide what those surroundings will be.
As Nepolian Hill said, ” Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” Mindset is everything! The more I read and get to know IR, the more I am learning about its unique approach and system to target long lasting results. No other gym takes into account the necessary factors like the 3 subcategories of mindset: attitude, motivation, and support that a human needs to make a life long change like IR does. My question is, can someone also be their own support system? If so, how can I improve my self support aside from friends, family, and coaches that I already receive?
I value IR vision of “mindset, motivation and support.” I believe these are essentials to have and know as people consider making lifestyle changes. From experience, internal motivation has given me long lasting results and encouragement from a steady support system was key to keeping my chin up during hard times.
Agreed! It doesn’t take any skill to throw together a workout that makes you want to puke. Unfortunately that is what much of the fitness industry is doing because it makes people FEEL like they’re getting results. But “feeling the burn” doesn’t necessarily make you stronger, healthier, more balanced, and a better mover – in fact if intensity and volume are not correctly prescribed they can easily prevent you from these more important goals!
Here’s to a more balanced approach – building better humans instead of simply mopping the floor with them.
One of my goals to study fitness specialist program is my bad experience with physical therapists who trained me before. They start the same training schedule for every patient. You cannot believe that sometime they asked me to do an exercise impossible to do it because of my health situation (I have spinal cord injury at level T8&T9 makes me paralyzed). In addition, some therapist did not fully understand my needs to improve my health status. I think after I finish my study program in OCC and the internship class with Innovation Results I could figure out what exactly I need and how can do it.
