You can tell the size of someone’s dream by the size of the things that distract them along the way.
People tell me all the time that they want to get in shape, be healthier, compete at a higher level, etc. Everybody WANTS stuff….they WANT a 6 pack or they WANT to lose 40 lbs. Problem is, when the rubber meets the road, they are not committed.
Getting in shape is really no different than wanting to make more money or wanting to start your own company or wanting to do anything. People want stuff all day long, but very few have the determination, passion and discipline to actually see it through to the end.
I got this poem in a newsletter that I read occasionally and I thought it was perfect.
“There are those that do and those that don’t.
Those that will and those that won’t”
It’s a humbling truth, but so important to understand. People can be so powerful if they are focused
and driving towards a goal. Huge problems can be solved and huge goals can be met, so why do people
fail to meet their expectations?
In my opinion, most people are weak and spoiled, just like kids.
We attack life with a “half assed” enthusiasm, most thinking they deserve something better, instead of realizing they should go earn it. We wish things were better, but still lay around and watch tv. We wish we made more money but never take action to improve our situation. We wish we were in better shape but sleep in, instead of going to the gym.
“There are those that will and those that won’t”
“Those that won’t” people allow small things to distract them and make excuses when they don’t hit their goals. Its probably a habit they’ve had their whole life. They may not realize it, but someone must hold them accountable or things will never change. That’s why so many people hire a trainer, find a mentor or join a group. For most people, having this support system can offset the weaknesses in themselves.
In order to become “those that will”, it is important to crystallize goals and make them emotional and urgent.
If they are not a priority, then it is easy to slack off and lose focus. Second, is the support group. Who is
holding you accountable and keeping you focused? This relationship is not always easy, but necessary for almost all of us that are charging into uncharted territory.
Life will get in they way, things always come up, there are always distractions and obstacles…but the people that win are the ones that stay on track, they stay focused, they keep their goals in front of them, they navigate the challenges and deal with life as it comes up.
You only live once and you can do incredible things, if you would just try. Stick your neck out a little, believe in your abilities surround yourself with supportive people, expect things to come up, commit to your goals and give it your all. It probably will not be easy, but the pain is worth it when you stand victorious.
So, are you taking life by the horns?
We shall see…
What did you do today to move you closer to your goal?
If the answer is nothing, then you have some work to do…and don’t wait til tomorrow!
and remember…
“There are those that do and those that don’t.
Those that will and those that won’t”
If you choose to do nothing, that’s fine, just don’t complain around me. 🙂

Today I invested in my relationship with God and my relationship with others…after all, that is what we are called to do, right?
I invested in my education…reading about 5 different things, including this blog! I will prepare for the Warrior Training this evening and I will invest in my support environment with Keri and our friends!
So blessed by God, IR, this blog, Corey, Keri, The IR team and family, and the IR Warrior Family! 🙂

Anyone can accomplish anything as long as they’re held accountable by the right people. If you have a goal you just need to seek out help.
