You ‘Let Yourself Go’ Now it’s time to Rebuild!
What does it mean to “Let yourself Go”?? Let your body ‘Go’, let your morals ‘Go’, let your dreams ‘Go’…..
It means that where you are now is not where you once planned to be.
“I never thought that I would have gained this much weight”
“I never thought I would be in a job I dreaded to go to”
“I never thought I would let someone treat me this way..”
A renewal of happiness is created by changing your current reality. Sounds like a lot of work huh?? When looked at as a whole some parts of your life may seem impossible to change. However, change isn’t as overwelming as it needs to be.
Small Steps to Big change
1. Decide what you want!!!: What don’t you like? Is it worth changing? What is important to you? Are you just comfortable with being uncomfortable? Think about how hard it is to potty train a baby – they will sit in their own mess, sometimes without even shedding a tear because they don’t know any different solution. Are you just sitting in your own mess???
2. Test Your Commitment: Once you know what you want to change, make a small commitment to Yourself (i.e one less run to McDonalds, think one positive thought when you wake up, set a small relational boundary with someone), and FOLLOW THROUGH. Test your commitment and be victorious. Then you can begin to build trust in yourself. Building trust in yourself will help you set Goals later.
3. Congratulate yourself: When you commit and stay committed be HAPPY!! Be happy with ALL your accomplishments. There is nothing too Big or too Small to recognize as a achievement. (ie I didn’t get enough sleep but I went to the gym anyway – mark it on your calendar so you KNOW you can commit)
4. Set a Goal: Use your new confidence with commitment to KNOW that you CAN and are CAPABLE of change. Each week set a realistic goal. Just focus one day at a time to the end of the week. I write out my goals for the week on Sunday night. Each of these weekly goals are inline with what my optimal reality is. I don’t think of the future as building huge High Riser, I think of it as building one single room at a time.
5. Build! Build! Build!: Build upon your new accomplishments. Keeping small commitments lead to accomplishing small goals, which leads to creating BIG change.
DECIDE, COMMIT, CONGRATULATE, SET, BUILD.
‘Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending”
