IR & GO Ministries Work to Remove Language Barriers in Costa Mesa

November 13, 2014 by ptpt Leave a Comment

Share Your EnglishDSC00368-resize

Innovative Results realizes that part of improving the quality of life for our community means we have to spend some time, money, and energy.

The way the IR team and clients can participate in this purpose is to come to Innovative Results every Saturday morning for a charity training session at 10am. 100% of the ten dollar suggested donation is given to programs of our partners at The Crossing Church’s Local GO Ministry.

Sharing Your English is just one of the many community improvement programs and opportunities developed at Local GO Ministries.

Did you know that English as a Second Language classes are in extremely high demand?

There are many people in our community eager to learn and improve their English, so they can experience an improved quality of life just like the Innovative Results’ client.

This provides an amazing ministry opportunity: Share your English!

Both easy and fun, providing a teacher to lead the class, The Crossing’s Local GO Ministry members work one on one with a student to help them practice their English.
We invite you to serve your community and make new friends.2014-04-03 16.50.31

In addition to the ESL class, Local GO Ministries offer story-time and homework assistance for school-age children in other classrooms.

Volunteers are available to read stories out loud, perform educational activities, and offer limited homework assistance.

This takes place in a fun, but purposeful environment for children in Grades K – 6th to work on their reading and literacy skills for the Costa Mesa community schools.

If you are interested in volunteering to help in the Reading Room, contact Marsha Dopler.

Looking forward to seeing you at the next Innovative Results charity training session every Saturday at 10am.

Innovative Results Partners with Costa Mesa GO Ministries to Give Care Packages for the Troops

October 16, 2014 by ptpt Leave a Comment

By: Aaron Guyett

I asked Lisa Arellano of The Crossing Church in Costa Mesa to share what she does for Local GO Ministries to help the Newport Mesa community, and this is what she said:

CourtneyW

“I am Lisa Arellano, and I am a Veteran of the United States Army. I am a volunteer and member of The Crossing Church of Costa Mesa, and I have been aching for ministries that are local that I can relate to. As a Veteran coming home from deployment was devastating. The morale is very down when you’re separated from home and loved ones. I’m single with no family of my own, so I didn’t get the care packages and goodies I saw others getting. Packages For Troops or (OI) Operation Interdependence offers a small quart size package to any soldier in the military, as a little piece of home. The most important part of the package is the encouraging note that it comes with.”

“I do this because, my heart goes out to those at war, so that they will know that I care!”

Innovative Results partners with GO Ministries to give back to our local community in Costa Mesa and Orange County through fitness and training.

Come to Innovative Results, 2925 Airway Ave, Suite J, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, every Saturday at 10am, and donate $10 to the community, while experiencing the best fitness training in Orange County.

Serving Our Community—Charity Training Session at 10am on Saturdays at Innovative Results

GoMinistries640x360

One of Innovative Results top three values is serving our community. We have an amazing opportunity to partner with a church that truly cares for our community. Below are all of the areas this church, The Crossing, reaches out to the local community in Costa Mesa. We are honored to dedicate one hour to our community, not only with an amazing training session, but also to donate all the proceeds from the suggested $10 donation to these amazing community causes.

Hispanic Venue

The Crossing Church is proud to announce the creation of a new venture, The Crossing en Español, as we expand to offer services in Spanish. We believe so much in reaching the un-churched that we remove as many obstacles as possible so that people can hear the message of Jesus. Over the years, the population in Costa Mesa has changed, but the mission and the vision of The Crossing remains the same — we are a church for ALL PEOPLE. We have the opportunity to reach other nations right here in our country and in our city. What a privilege we have. Contact Jorge Moscoso to sign up now and be part of the Core Team as we prepare to launch in October. Join us on the ground floor of this exciting new venture.

UPCOMING SERVICES: As we lead up to our official launch date we are proud to present a select few services along the way. Please join us and be part of this exciting new venture.

Schools Partnershipimpactingschoolsmain

GO Ministries at The Crossing Church wants to show and share God’s love to our local schools! The schools play an essential role in the community and in the development of the next generation of leaders. We are focusing our resources of time, people and energy to the schools in our community.
LITERACY: one hour a week to read with a group of 1st, 2nd or 3rd graders.
FACILITIES: help provide a better learning environment at under-resourced schools.
STAFF: help support and encourage teachers and administrators.
PARENTS: help encourage, educate and support parents with various classes and events.

The Crossing is partnering with a local elementary school that has the most challenges in terms of literacy, to help change this negative trend.

If you would like to take the next step and learn how you can get involved in this important local outreach program, please contact Jorge Moscoso today.

The Homeless—LOTS (Life On The Streets)

This is a ministry that helps those experiencing homelessness in our community. Our focus is helping retain and maintain their dignity by providing showers, laundry, mending and support. We work to establish intentional relationships with the ultimate goal of demonstrating Christ’s love and helping them to reconnect with their families and society.

This all takes place on The Crossing Church campus every Saturday morning from 8:00am – 11:00am and you can be a part of it. Contact Andy Cox to volunteer today!

CHECK-IN CENTER:
The Crossing is proud to host a “check-in center” for homeless people to “check in” their belongings for the day – located on the bottom level of The Crossing Church parking structure. This is a ministry for those experiencing homelessness in our community, providing them with a safe place to “check-in” their belongings, allowing them to travel, attend interviews or appointments, prevent theft or damage to personal belongings and ease health issues from transporting belongings.

Participants have access to their “check-in center” during the following times:
Monday through Friday from 6:00am – 7:30am and 6:30pm – 8:00pm
Saturday from 7:45am – 9:45am and 6:30pm – 7:30pm

If you are ready to take the next step in serving your community sign up for volunteer training today!

Feeding the Hungrycrossingcambodia

Come join us the second Saturday of every month as we distribute food to the needy in our local community. Since 1988, this ministry has been committed to feeding the hungry in body, mind and spirit.
Feed The Hungry is a FREE FOOD program for seniors, singles, and low-income families in the cities of Newport Beach and Costa Mesa. We distribute a variety of items from canned food, produce, bread, clothes, furniture and the word of Jesus Christ. Every month we deliver over 40,000 pounds of food and provide meals for around 2,000 people.

VOLUNTEER: 2nd Saturday of the month from 8:00 am — 1:00 pm

Location:
Newport Mesa Church Parking Lot
2599 Newport Boulevard
Costa Mesa, CA 92627

Share Your English

Did you know that ESL (English as a Second Language) classes are in extremely high demand? People in our community are eager to learn and/or improve their English. This provides an amazing ministry opportunity for you: Share your English! It’s easy and fun. We provide a teacher to lead the class, and as a tutor, you work one on one with a student to help them practice their English. Students in the class are Intermediate and Advanced levels.
We invite you to serve your community and make new friends.
Classes will start on Wednesday, September 10th and will run through November 29th.

In addition to the ESL class, we will be offering storytime/homework assistance for school-age children in another classroom. Volunteers will be available to read stories out loud, perform educational activities, and offer limited homework assistance. This will take place in a fun, but purposeful environment for children in Grades K – 6th to work on their reading and literacy skills.

If you are interested in volunteering to help in the Reading Room, contact Marsha Dopler. This class will be held at the same time as the Share Your English Class.

Street Team

“The Street Team” works to equip as many people as possible to P.R.A.I. as they walk through life by engaging them in 4 weeks of training and experience walking the streets.
Week 1 – Pray
Week 2 – Relate
Week 3 – Assist
Week 4 – Invite

You can jump in during any week and experience “The Street Team.” Each session runs from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday nights departing from The Crossing, The Street Team is off during the month of August and will start again in the month of September.
The hope is that after spending 4 weeks not only learning about how to P.R.A.I. but actually doing it, people will develop some habits that will carry over into how they “walk” through their everyday life.

We will have different guests join us to train and enlighten us to what’s really going on out there on the streets of our community.
Contact Jeff Costa today to register.

Reasons IR’s Boot Camp for Charity Supports GO Ministries – Part 2

The stories keep coming!
Thank you all for sharing your incredible experiences and for supporting an amazing cause.

GO Uganda

A change in perspective……..Keri Moore

In 2004 my husband and I sponsored a young orphan girl from Uganda, 9 years old, through Compassion International & The Crossing church. Uganda was the most unimaginable place in the world to me; dark, unexplored, AIDS infested. But we could do one small thing for a child, a stranger. We laughingly joked that God probably was going to tell us to go there but I knew I NEVER would!!!!

In 2005 the church put together a trip to Uganda to visit our sponsored children. When I heard about it I felt sick in the pit of my stomach. I just knew God was going to take me there and I was so scared! Was pretty sure I’d contract AIDS and die or get kidnapped & raped by a group of roaming bad people and every other horrible scenario possible. I also felt that the level of fear I had was in direct proportion to my need to go, to trust God at that same level.
We went….I not only survived but found myself utterly spiritually freed and open to all of the world. I began to get a sense of the world as God saw it; His children, His creation.

One day I was walking down a dirt road, people in front of me and people behind me but completely alone in my space. Everything around me seemed surreal, like my body was there but my spirit felt different, lighter, detached, not really inside me. I got a sudden and overwhelming feeling of complete emptiness. Not the “I’m-so-alone” emptiness but an emptiness like the me I’d known was gone. I wasn’t processing the moment through my own senses, my body felt like a shell, light and thin, and my brain said one thing; “this is who God made me to be and where I am supposed to be”. Even though I was experiencing a loss of myself I was simultaneously experiencing a sense of myself as He made me! No history, no judgments, no over-analyzing, no fear, no worry or concern or even thought of the next moment, just a sense of complete purity. It was the strangest, most beautiful, most inspiring thing that’s ever happened to me. It has never happened again but I KNOW I understood something deeply personal from God in that moment. I also realized that I had to tell people, encourage them, help them somehow get an experience for themselves. My mission became to help others find a connection to God through going into the world. Not my experience but one deeply personal for them.

He is waiting for us to seek Him.

Reasons IR Boot Camp for Charity Supports GO Ministries – Part 1

December 5, 2013 by ptpt 1 Comment

If you have followed Innovative Results and learned of the Saturday Charity Boot Camps it is time to get a look at the bigger picture.

keely-with-girls-compassion-international-india-35341

There are many incredible charities working on the global and local level, so why has Innovative Results chosen to support The Crossing Church’s GO Ministries & Compassion International?

For one, Innovative Results proudly resides in Costa Mesa and many of our members make up active parts of local organizations, many of which branch from The Crossing Church.  As our dedicated clients support us, IR finds it extremely important to support our members and give back to the City of Costa Mesa.

Secondly, Innovative Results gets to experience stories like this one below, and understand just how amazing our members are and just how much impact that IR’s One Hour Boot Camp for Charity can have.

I have the honors of serving on The GO Ministry for India, Child Sponsorship Team  at The Crossing Church. I have so many great experiences from my first trip to India but the one that has marked me the most is a very simple story. One particular morning, I woke up to the sound of ringing bells coming from the floor below where all 30 orphaned boys and girls resided. I had already heard about this incredible routine these children had every single morning. I was curious and wanted to see for myself. When I went down, all of the children were already out of their beds either folding their blankets and placing them neatly at the end of their bunks, in line waiting to get toothpaste on their toothbrushes or taking  quick body baths with a wet cloth. I was so impressed by the discipline and no complaining. Many of them looked at me with sweet smiles even though you could tell they were still sleepy. But the one thing that caught my attention was when I was standing behind a young boy that was sitting on his bunk. At this orphanage, every child is given a metal chest box so they can place everything they own in it. Well, this particular boy had taken a letter from his metal box and carefully opened up the envelope as if it was made of gold. Then he pulled out a picture of an american family. He just sat there for about a minute starring at his new family. He then pulled out another letter and read the loving words that were written just for him. I had this feeling he did this every morning. Ever since then, my family and I have made it a discipline to send photos and loving words of encouragement to all 4 of our Indian children. I believe in my heart that not only does sponsoring make a difference in a child’s life but something as simple as writing words of life to a child lets them know they are very LOVED and very SPECIAL!
