After 10 Months of Training, Nick is Headed to the United States Army

September 5, 2017 by Jessica 1 Comment

NickFlohr

At just 20 years old, Nick had set his sights on not only joining the United States Army, but challenging himself to be at the top of his recruiting class.

Hear about why Nick selected Innovative Results to begin his journey in this week’s client profile…

What brought you to Innovative Results?

I came to Innovative Results after googling the best gyms in my area and talking to Aaron Guyett in order to get in the best shape I could be before joining the Army.

What were your initial thoughts on the gym?

My initial thoughts on Innovative Results’ gym were that it isn’t your typical gym where you feel lost in the shuffle and go off on your own and do whatever you want. Innovative Results is a smaller gym that really focuses on encouraging everyone who is training there to give it their personal best effort while doing exercises that you wouldn’t normally see at a gym and of course they make sure you’re having fun while you workout!

NickFlohr2

After your first session what was something that stood out that kept you coming back for the next session? How about after the first month?

Something that stood out to me after my first session and still stands out to me are the Coaches. Everyone at Innovative Results is nothing but friendly and caring and it feels like a second family. The trainers are always asking how you are and really take the time to make sure you know how to do the exercises properly and are always motivating and pushing you to do nothing but your best with each rep.

What change or changes have you seen in yourself (mindset, movement, recovery, attitude, mentality, strength, wellness, etc) since you started at Innovative Results?

Both my family and myself have seen many personal changes since working out with the staff at Innovative Results. Not only are their improvements to my physical body but additionally to my mindset. I’m more motivated to do things, I’m stronger, faster, I have way more endurance than I did when I first started working out, and the biggest change I’ve seen in myself is my attitude. Going to Innovative Results has made me love to workout. I want to wake up early everyday and go on runs on the days I don’t go to the gym. I want to eat better and take care of my body and I want to push myself to do the best I can everyday.

IMG_6273

What do you LOVE about Innovative Results! What keeps you consistent and focused for every session?

I love how different Innovative Results is from every other gym out there! Every time I go to workout I’m always excited to see my trainers and learn what new workout routine I have. I’m always having fun and smiling every time I go to Innovative Results. Thank you for mentoring and encouraging me to be the best version of myself.

Are you ready to improve the quality of your life? Join Nick and the 100’s of others as you take control of your health and fitness journey!

April 18, 2017 by Jessica 2 Comments

We cannot become what we want by remaining what we are. – Max De Pree

Orange County Gym and Personal Training at Innovative Results

Here at Innovative Results we refer to our clients and team as the Innovative Results Family.

As family, your journey to an improved quality of life is our #1 priority.

Each one of us has a story, and we’ve been incredibly fortunate to listen to, and experience every story that is shared with us.

Simon has been changed by the Innovative Results Team and Family!

Even with a busy travel schedule, he has discovered his why, surrounded himself with positive influences, and was motivated enough to share his story with all of us!

Thank you for sharing how we helped you lose 15 lbs and more, Simon!motivation

When did you start training at Innovative Results?

I started training at IR in mid Feb 2017

Why did you start training with Innovative Results?

My job means I travel every week and don’t exercise or eat well, this was a life decision to change both my diet and exercise regime to fix this issue

What have you improved since you started training with Innovative Results?

In the first 6 weeks I have lost 15 pounds and my fitness level has improved dramatically

What kept you coming back to Innovative Results?

The trainers are great they make the sessions challenging but fun and their focus on form keeps you safe, I did crossfire before and constantly got injured because of the lack of focus on form so this is important

How has Innovative Results improved the other areas of your life (i.e. work, relationships, finances, education)?

Generally I feel more energized in all aspects of my life, they say ‘fit body, fit mind’ and this has certainly been the case

What advice do you have for someone who is just getting started with Innovative Results?

Keep at it, I have been to other gyms but nowhere has achieved the results I have seen at IR

How has your life changed since you started training at Innovative Results?

I have more energy for all aspects of my life and am just generally happier, the only down side is none of my jeans fit anymore;-)

Who would you want to experience what you get to experience at Innovative Results?

kettlebell, kettlebells, and personal training at Innovative Results

We all get into a routine in our life, work, diet and exercise…those people who are in that rut would have a whole new outlook at Innovative Results. They really change you for the better!

Why do you stay committed to your improvement in and out of the gym?

It works, so I don’t want to stop, things I never thought were possible suddenly are and I feel awesome after each session.

Are you ready to experience results like Simon?

Fill out the form below and one of our highly knowledgeable trainers will call you to set up your first session!

Strength Over Stress: Do More than You’ve Ever Done Before

November 15, 2016 by Jessica 5 Comments

Article Written By: Margaret Fajardo

mission viejo personal trainer

She had already competed in an earlier event. For the entire ten minutes, first-time Kettlebell Sport lifter Kelly Boaitey finished with 159 repetitions in lifting Jerk, not once setting down the 8 kg kettlebell. But this was just the first lift out of two. When she was going up to the platform for Long Cycle, Boaitey kept telling her teammates that she was already tired and wasn’t sure how she could go on. As the announcer counted down the seconds to begin, she couldn’t complain anymore (or maybe she did a little). At the end of another ten minutes, not once did Boaitey set down her kettlebell. And like the first lift, she had reps in the three-digits, achieving a personal goal of 101.

As a self-employed, single mom of three, fifty-year-old Boaitey is no stranger to stress. Her occupation involves miles and miles of being on the road. Despite needing to be at a different place at different times during the week, Boaitey makes time to go to Innovative Results, Orange County’s Fitness Playground. She said, “I find ways to get there, 3 days a week, at 5 a.m.” For Boaitey, there are definite results each time she shows up to a training session. As Boaitey said, “I can go there feeling absolute crap, overwhelmed, it’s the last thing I wanna do, and I come out feeling like a completely different person in an hour.” And with every hour that Boaitey has put in at Innovative Results, she rarely ever says “I can’t.” Her recent success as a novice Kettlebell Sport Lifter is the next level in her health and fitness journey. She admits to surprising herself: “I never imagined to be where I am only because I never tried to go there. I used to say I can’t a lot..but I’ve done things that I’ve far surpassed I could ever do.”

Beat Stress: An Even More Important Reason to Stay Active

Kelly KB

Many health and fitness experts have highlighted how stress impacts us all, regardless of whether or not we are at our ideal weight or need to lose a few pounds. In fact, everyday stress can exacerbate health challenges we already struggle with. According to Aaron Guyett, Innovative Results Owner and Head Coach:

“Stress is a part of our life. Either we feel stressed or we feel lazy. Yet we can mitigate the tension of stress by preparing our bodies and minds with the daily routine of exercise. The victory and mindset-improving exercise designed into each Innovative Results workout, prepares our clients to realize their best, and deliver that ‘best’ in every area of their life outside of the gym.”

Boaitey has said that she’s “stayed with Innovative Results for my mental well-being.” In addition, she goes because “as I get older, wanting the core strength to prevent the things that happen to older people. I’m only 50 so better start now.”

Strong Never Gets Old: Uplift Yourself By Lifting Kettlebells

Innovative Results has hosted a few Kettlebell Sport competitions. Innovative Results even has a Kettlebell Sport Team. Earlier this year, Boaitey was a spectator at the Cali Open and cheered on fellow Innovative Results members. Boaitey has said of the experience: “There’s such a diverse group of people that do it – thin, heavy, muscular, not-so-muscular, old, young, really young – there’s something in it for everyone. If you wanted to do it, you could do it….After going to the competition, I’ve not only said to myself I could do this, but I said to myself, I think this would be fun. And it is!”

Besides attending Innovative Results signature hour-long training sessions, Boaitey has added kettlebell lifting progressions to her regimen. She now can perform all the technical lifts in Kettlebell Sport: Jerk, Snatch, and Long Cycle. She has been happy to share her athletic journey. She said, “The world kind of tells you that you’re old for certain things and your body tells you too… but in terms of peers outside of Innovative Results, they ask me ‘So what do you do?’ In the past, I would’ve just said, I go to the gym. But now I say, ‘I do Kettlebell Sport!’”

Stress Loses When You Go Social

There is no room for feeling stress when the social atmospheres of both the hour-long training sessions and the Kettlebell sport competitions are friendly, encouraging, and fun. It’s no wonder that Boaitey commits to improving her quality of life. As she said, “There’s always someone at Innovative Results to encourage you. It’s not just the trainers.” There may be physical challenges. There may be struggle. But everyone overcomes all, together.

The team environment at Innovative Results is a health benefit with immediate results. Not only do workouts engage body and brain, but working out as a team creates connections that are as important to health as strong muscles. People smile. People give high-fives and pats on the back. No one is ever alone in going through something difficult. Getting fit while getting social can only feel good. Feeling fit and healthy isn’t just about physical well-being. It’s also about emotional health. When your body feels good from the outside-in and the inside-out, stress doesn’t stand a chance.

Shane Praises Active Recovery After Crushing His Sixth Ragnar Relay

April 11, 2016 by ptpt Leave a Comment

Shane_Ragnar1The IR Team received this incredible “improved quality of life” story from one of our active recovery clients today!

So pumped on his success!!

I just completed my sixth Southern California Ragnar Relay, and can honestly say it was not an easy one.

I had the most total miles for the team of 12 runners at 25.4 miles and the single longest leg at 12.1 miles.

Overall my recovery between runs and after the race was greatly improved.

All because I started incorporating Innovative Results Active Recovery classes.

In my training and conditioning runs of 4 – 10 miles preparing for the race I had an incredible per minute average pace drop from 9:15 minute mile to 8:15 minute mile.

A full minute faster than my average pace!

All due to Innovative Results Active Recovery Class!

Proving that you can achieve higher level fitness and athleticism with some conscience efforts in active muscle release, focused breathing, meditation techniques, and overall well-being through recovery.

19 Ways to Get Motivated to Exercise

April 6, 2016 by ptpt Leave a Comment

AlexCMaintaining a regular exercise routine can be challenging, even though we KNOW fitness and exercise is great for us!

So how can YOU stay motivated to keep up with your fitness training, or even get started with a new fitness training program when you just ‘don’t feel like it’?

Dumb Little Man’s Claire Jones has 19 Ways to Get Motivated to Exercise just for you!

1. Tell a Friend when you plan to work out and what activity you’ll be doing – an accountability partner is a great asset!
2. Create a Playlist that lifts your mood and gets you moving
3. Put on your sports gear and head out the door immediately
4. Arrange a workout with a friend – again accountability will be a huge asset for your success!
5. Make it FUN – do what you enjoy.
6. Incorporate little bursts of activity into your day – You don’t have to be at the gym for it to count as exercise!
7. Plan how far you want to run, swim or walk, and then halve it.
8. Buy gear that makes you look and feel good.
9. Work out in the morning, whenever you can.
10. Join a Sports Group – meet new people that enjoy the same activities as you!
11. Find an activity that’s on your way home from work.
12. Keep picturing the most sporty version of you.
13. Go for ten minutes only – once you get going, odds are you will continue beyond your 10 minutes!
14. Go to the gym when your favorite TV show is on – now you have no excuse. 🙂
15. Give yourself a reward after you’ve worked out.
16. Remember that action creates motivation.
17. Set up a 30-day Challenge.
18. Don’t focus on the whole workout.
19. Write down the excuses you have for not working out.

For a breakdown of each motivation tip you can read the Full Article on Dumb Little Man HERE

As I sit here typing this, I have a date with a trail that I am supposed to be running.

So remembering that action creates motivation, I will finalize this article, and run on the trail for ten minutes only…which I am sure will turn into more, but right now I am thinking of all the things I need to do today.

My reward will be that satisfying feeling you have when you have accomplished something awesome!

Which is how I feel after every fitness training session at Innovative Results – The Orange County Fitness Playground, so I am sure that this will be no different.

Not focusing on the full workout, just doing ten minutes, using action to create motivation, and feeling that huge sense of achievement when I am done is what will get me motivated to exercise for this particular exercise in my fitness training program.

Make Your Next One, Your Best One!

7 Tips for a Healthier You – Learn Them for a Healthy Lifestyle

October 21, 2015 by Jessica Leave a Comment

By Ron Burg, Clever TrainingInnovative Results active collage fitness playground

A consistent lifestyle will promote healthier eating and exercising habits. Sure, it can be hard to change your routine, but tweaking little things and continuing to do so will enable a happier, healthier you.

No one is perfect, plus every once in a while you really just want to eat that burger and fries. It’s perfectly fine to indulge; especially if you make sure that your three meals that day are healthy alternatives to your “cheat” meal.

Even on your worst and most lazy days, you should strive to get up and move, and eat the best you can to keep your habit consistent. Additionally, follow these steps to maintain that healthy lifestyle you have always wanted.

Try These 7 Tips For A Healthier You:

1. Get at least 10,000 steps a day.
A great way to count your steps is to use gadgets like activity monitors and GPS watches. They will keep up with your every move, and some models also log your sleep hours and provide you with extra motivation.

Here are some simple ways you can reach your 10,000 steps:trail running squeeze background
• Always use the stairs.
• Walk the dog.
• Aim to park far away from any building.
• Pack your lunch so you can walk during your break.

2. Teach your body to be healthy.
Train your body to be healthy, and it will act accordingly. If you stop eating sweets, you won’t crave them half as much. Plus, after you eliminate something out of you diet, chances are you won’t even like it when you do eat it. Make sure you keep your healthy eating habits consistent.

3. Eat breakfast.healthy food collage
Make sure to eat breakfast EVERY day. This will jumpstart your metabolism by signaling your body it’s okay to feel hungry. You will need food for energy to keep up with all those steps anyway!

4. Allow some sweat.
Sweat is our body’s cooling system. When you work out often, your body will immediately start to sweat, because it knows what it’s in for. However, if you don’t regularly work out, your body will take longer.

Make sure you move enough and try to exercise every day to keep your sweat a constant.

5. Think long-term.
Dieting is short-term. What you really need, in order to make a difference (and see the change stick!), is to make healthy changes that last a lifetime. Eat clean; lower your sugar, sodium, and starches.

6. Drink enough water.
You should never feel thirsty; if you do, you should up your water intake. Staying hydrated means your workout won’t count as much (no matter how hard you work).

7. Stay active.Costa Mesa Fitness Center Innovative Results active collage fitness
One hour at the gym does not lead to an active lifestyle. Again, the key here is consistency. Make sure you are moving throughout your entire day. Hitting the gym every day is great, but make sure you’re not idle the rest of the time.

Get up and move around, do a lap around the office – anything you can to stay active during your down time.

10 Things The Best Athletes Do – For Any Athlete in Training

September 14, 2015 by Jessica Leave a Comment

Usian Bolt Celebrating after a sprint

Maybe you aren’t looking to become the next Serena Williams, Derek Jeter, Usian Bolt, Michael Phelps or Mia Hamm, but if you participate in a strength and conditioning program you my friend are an ATHLETE.

So what are these “next level” athletes doing to build that ‘ideal physique’ that many of us train and work are tails off for? The answers probably won’t SHOCK you, but in order to reach your personal fitness goals, it may be time to hear the facts.

Eat to Perform put together a list of the Top 10 things that the best athletes do that you likely are not doing.

10 Things The Best Athletes Do, That You Can Too!

1. They don’t look for a quick fix.

keep-calm-there-s-no-quick-fix

That admirable, and ‘ideal physique’ came from dedicating countless hours of training and programming. These athletes did not earn their bodies over a couple weeks, and they never, ever gave up on their dreams. If you feel discouraged with your fitness results, as many of us do at times, you won’t find the resolution by giving up. You have to be dedicated to the basics, and put in the time. Enjoy the journey, and be delighted in your small accomplishments because in time they will be your BIGGEST accomplishments.

2. They know where they are, where they want to go, and how to get there.

goals

The best athletes move from one goal to the next to uphold their sense of interest. If you find yourself struggling to maintain focus or passion, set a SMART Goal. Something as simple as a lifting PR, or taking seconds off your mile run – then set a deadline (realistic), and most importantly commit to the goal.

3. They don’t try to reach their physique goals by cutting Calories.

EAT TO TRAIN, do not train to eat. The best athletes are rarely looking to cut their daily caloric intake. Their food is used to enhance work capacity, and work to maintain and build the muscle they are training for.

4. They don’t obsess over their abs.

alexviada

My friends those 6 pack abs do not come from 1000’s of crunches.
“The best athletes I know don’t spend a whole lot of time thinking about how to get abs; the work they do ultimately just lands them in that spot.” Alex Viada, Ultra Endurance Athlete, Elite Powerlifter, and beer enthusiast.
Eat to Perform can agree that form follows function, and that if you want to look athletic… well, you are gonna need to BE athletic. Start training to improve your performance and the rest will fall into place.

5. They don’t worry about putting on body fat due to overeating.

Majority of athletes are training to gain hard muscle and not worrying much about losing fat. As Eat To Perform explains, if you want to squat more, for example, “You need to put a lot of quality work into developing your quads and glutes, perfecting your form, and increasing your work capacity. That cannot be accomplished in a Calorie deficit, and it’s a lot harder to do if you’re worried about your scale weight.” It all comes back to the Eat to Train/Perform.

6. They train smart and focus on incremental performance increases.

trainsmart

These days it seems that the majority of folks believe that to perform at their highest levels you should be training all day every, pushing yourself to exhaustion during every training session – more reps, heavier weights, tougher workouts, longer duration etc. The Fitness Industry has news for you – the best athletes DO NOT train this way.

So what are the fittest people in the world doing? They are varying their training with a combination of activities, intensity levels, and modes of training. You will probably find these athletes working on their aerobic capacity in the morning with high intensity interval training (HITT), followed by an evening weight training routine to develop max strength. (They didn’t start out like that, and typically they will do one or the other.) Many times, these athletes are working with coaches that have specifically designed training programs, applying progressive overload overtime so that their performance peaks at a specific time. This programming is never random, it is done with purpose.

7. They don’t feel guilty when they miss workouts.

whoami

Rest is not only necessary, it is immensely beneficial. If you are pushing the limits of human performance you will need to schedule yourself some much needed recovery time. If you are skipping training sessions weeks on end you may need to re-evaluate your time commitments, but don’t feel guilty about skipping a day if you have a consistent training record. A little extra recovery may boost your hunger and commitment in reaching that goal you set!

8. They surround themselves with people who’re better than they are.

What happens if you are the strongest/fastest/best athlete in your gym? The drive to better yourself dwindles, and you are no longer challenged by your surroundings – the old “Big fist-little pond” effect. Maybe its time to change perspective.
