Reduce Stress and Increase Happiness in This Ten Minutes Per Day Habit – Improve Your Quality of Life Today!

October 6, 2016 by IR Staff 2 Comments

happyReduce Stress and Increase Happiness?
In Ten Minutes or less per day?
Sounds too good to be true, right?
This article might be long, but it will be worth the read, if you would like to experience an increase in your happiness, satisfaction, and success.
I have been partaking in a daily habit that is completely transforming the way I think about my life, my relationships, my work, and my purpose in life, and at this point, it would be selfish and wrong to not share this with the people in my life that want to experience improved quality of life. So here it goes…
Founder and Owner, Aaron Guyett with his kids.
Founder and Owner, Aaron Guyett with his kids.

How can you spend 2 to 10 minutes every day, and experience more happiness, satisfaction, and success, even in the midst of our busy and stressful lives?

First, we need to understand that thinking happy, satisfying, and successful thoughts goes against our nature. All of humanity is wired to remember and focus on the negative, and in case you think you are the exception, read these questions and ponder the answer.
Which thing can you remember faster, something a significant other in your life did that was good or bad?
busy lifestyleWhen you have performed a thousand good deeds or actions for your boss or job, why do they (or you) recall or focus on the one bad thing?
When asked a general question about the way you perform, why do you instantly think with a negative bias, and tend to find your body language, words, or thoughts to be defensive in nature?
Why do we tend to believe the World is getting more violent, oppressive, and dangerous, when every study of history depicts the opposite is in fact occurring in today’s World?
This is the way our minds were created, and without getting overly spiritual, this is what keeps us out of harms way.
kettlebell, kettlebell team, innovative results kettlebell team, Amanda Clover, Keri Guyett, Harrel Carman, Aaron Guyett, Manny Aragon, Christabel Tabbada, Jessica CiskeIf negatives didn’t affect us in a profound way psychologically, we would find ourselves eaten by animals, walking in front of fast-moving cars, and stepping off buildings, bridges, or cliffs often.
The issue with this brain wiring, is that even though life is easier and safer, relative to our human history, we are more depressed, anxious, and medicated than ever before.
We don’t have to fall into this pattern, though. We can make daily choices that help us focus on all of the good stuff, and experience lives that are happier, more satisfying, and more successful, despite the social, emotional, and environmental  pressure and stress that can seem to surround us.

If we train our brains to focus on the positives and help seat these positives deep into our psycho-social rhythms, we will reap amazing quality-of-life improvements (And that is what Innovative Results is all about).
Daily movement is shown to improve us psychologically, just as much if not more than it improves us physiologically, but if our thoughts are bad, even playful movement can seem like a daunting task or difficult chore.
I challenge you, to take the 90 Day Bliss challenge:
  • Take 2 to 10 minutes everyday to partake in one of the Bliss App exercises to improve your quality of life for 90 days in a row.
summer-beach-fun-wallpaperWhy perform positive psychology or positive neuroplasticity training (PNT) daily?
From the Bliss App Page:
“Psychologists have identified a collection of exercises, or “interventions,” which have been shown to create long-lasting improvements in happiness, motivation, resilience, life-satisfaction, and a host of other positive mental traits. Bliss packages these exercises up for you in one application so that you can easily incorporate them into your life and reap all the benefits from decades of research in positive psychology.”
You can get the Bliss app on your phone (even iPhone) here: http://bliss31.com/about.php
If you are interested in some of the research behind this I suggest reading:
  • “The Happiness Advantage” by: Shawn Achor
  • Dr. Rick Hanson’s handout here: https://s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/fwb-media.rickhanson.net/PDFfiles/UsingYourMindToChangeYourBrain.pdf
  • And this study http://www.rickhanson.net/teaching/tgc-public-summary/
There is a lot more material proving the point, but I won’t burden you with an exhaustive bibliography.
Know that I want you to experience improved quality of life through increased happiness, satisfaction, success, and purpose in you life, and I believe you will appreciate this HUGE step in that direction!

Before Your Resolutions, Don’t Forget to Count Your Blessings

January 1, 2016 by IR Staff Leave a Comment

If you don’t count your blessings, they are more likely to pass you by without being noticed in this New Year, too.21651-I-Chose-To-Be-Happy

There are countless studies that demonstrate how effective gratefulness can be for our happiness, performance, and productivity, so before you begin down the resolution road this year, count your blessings from last year. (Google search “gratefulness study”, and you will see incredible data backing my claim.)

If we are the sum total of our choices, habits, and behaviors…

The more you count your blessings, the better you will become at being grateful, appreciative, and thankful for all the things and happenings in your life–big or small.blog-consequences The better you become at being grateful, the happier you will be.

The happier you are, the easier it is to do the hard stuff that builds the necessary habits for your resolutions to stick.

Behavior changes for physical, financial, mental, spiritual, and relational transformation can seem very difficult (many of us experience this every year).

The Marine Corps is infiltrated with critical observers and people that point out the negatives in most situations–making transformation difficult. There is even a saying, “if the Marines aren’t complaining than something is wrong.” However, there was always a few standout Marines, some outliers, that everyone admired and were attracted to, because of their ability to transform themselves and others despite the obstacles.

These Marines could brighten up the worst of situations, with just a phrase.

I remember, we were in the middle of the night, freezing our butts off, practicing patrols with little to eat, no sleep, and not enough warming layers. When a seasoned Gunny came out of the night shadows, while our team was prepping to go out, and said with a smile, “and we get paid for this?”

personal trainer in orange county named AaronIt was in jest, but that short phrase, said with a smile, changed everyone’s perspective on that field operation. We were grateful for the training, because it would one day help us survive.

We were grateful for our paychecks, because they help us make ends meet.

We were grateful for each other, because we could suffer together.

We were grateful for him, because he made us all laugh and smile during a pretty tough challenge that would help us endure in the future.

So take a moment to think about last year’s blessings.

Be a good-finder.

Write it down, and tell some people about your blessings.

Ask those same people about their blessings…I guarantee they will appreciate you for it.

And then venture forward into this New Year with an attitude of gratefulness, and watch how your transformation, although challenging, won’t feel impossible.

Make this next year, your best year!!

Learn How To Achieve Success With These Three Attitude Principles From Innovative Results Fitness Coach Aubrie Pohl

July 5, 2015 by Jessica 1 Comment

By Aubrie PohlGym in orange county

The elaborate structure of the human mind yields one of the greatest imaginable catalysts to SUCCESS.

Learn How To Achieve Success With These Three Principles of Attitude:

  1. Positive Thinking – A Positive Mental Attitude
  2. Positive Words – What You Say Matters
  3. Positive Action – It is Your Move

An essential step you can take towards achieving your greatest potential is being mindful of your ATTITUDE. A mastermind of your cognition, attitude shapes the way you perceive the world and the way the world perceives you.

It directly impacts our communication, contribution, and performance on a daily basis. Developing a high level of attitude awareness creates the ability to shape your world and mind into any desired result!

A positive attitude is intentional, and if you can think, speak, and act consistently in this way, you will change the way you feel inside and elevate your life to one of happiness, compassion, and opportunity.

THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKINGnoel jimenez, Aaron Guyett, Aaron Lieberman, Innovative Results, ORange County fitness playground

Our febrile human minds create an incessant flow of thoughts.

Positive thinking begins within that endless chatter of unspoken thoughts within our brain, called self-talk.

By nature we experience both positive and negative thoughts, so to say we should always think positively is unrealistic. However, embracing the right ATTITUDE can transform a negative notion into a positive one.

Through dominating our internal battle with beneficial thoughts, such as less self-criticism and more self-acceptance, we have the ability to rewire our brain.

The brain strengthens neural connections that are used and weakens ones that aren’t.

Adopting a new habit of positive thinking will slowly shift your brain into a positivity producing engine! This will generate advantageous effects both within your body and in your life.

Negative thinking can wreak havoc in the system by igniting stress responses, as well as narrow your mind to focusing on negative emotions. On the contrary, positive thinking can open your mind to the vast array of opportunities in our world, and will greatly reduce the harmful health effects of stress on the body.

Positive thoughts help build skills and produce an enhanced ability to handle stress in a more constructive way, and encouraging self-talk can convert any obstacle into an opportunity for growth and courage.

By rewiring the brain to create an endless flow of primarily positive thoughts, the forthcoming words and actions will be equally fruitful.

WHAT YOU SAY MATTERSracked carry, INnovative REsults, attitude, positive thoughts, positive words, positive actions

Words are tools that we have always had access to and have used every day since we started verbally communicating; they allow us to connect with each other and give meaning to our experiences. Consequently, they can have a profound impact upon ourselves and the people around us.

What you say, and how you say it, can be important and even life changing in the view of someone else.

Words have a biochemical effect on the body, and by introducing positive words into our vocabulary, we can change the pattern of our feelings and create joyful experiences!

Essentially, the words we attach to our experience will transform our perception.

We literally have the ability to turn a monotonous task into an exciting activity by simply choosing to use positive words.

Try this! The next time someone asks you, “How are you?”… instead of saying “good”, try “fantastic” or “awesome!” and notice how it affects your attitude.

Through positively orchestrating our speech, we can spark change to guide ourselves to action and improve the quality of our lives.

IT’S YOUR MOVE

Instilling our actions in forward momentum will allow us to continue on a path of self-transformation and success.

Mindfully build good habits, pursue goals, endeavor to live the life you have imagined and you can confidently move in the direction of your highest potential! By taking the right steps in the right direction, positive actions become intentional activities that manifest more motivation, happiness, and improved life conditions.

The inevitable negative moments in life will occur, but with a positive attitude we can accept those moments as opportunities to take positive action and reach a new high.

In fact, a change of behavior can alter how we think and feel.

Our emotions are reinforced by their matching expression, so even our poses and demeanor have the potential to change the chemical make-up of our bodies.

Smile and you will feel happier!

Stand tall with your chest out and you will assert confidence.

With a little polish of our ATTITUDE, we can change our actions and reactions, continually discovering maneuvers we can perform to make our lives more meaningful and satisfying.

UNLEASH YOUR INNER AWESOME

If you want to change your life, construct your decisions and actions, and become what you are truly capable of, start shifting your emotional patterns.

A positive attitude starts from within, and monitoring the internal dialogue will effectively influence your relationship with yourself and your relationships with others.

Focusing your mind on how to be positive will reveal more ways to be so.

As we communicate with this transformational vocabulary, we radiate our positivity to others in hopes of redirecting possible negative words they harbor.

Fill yourself with positive energy, and choose thoughts, words, and actions that leave you feeling good towards yourself and others.

At any moment, you have the power to construct your decisions and actions.

As always, it’s your call.

6 Ways To Get a Break From Your Busy Day – Innovative Results Helps You Improve Your Quality of Life With Recovery Tips

April 22, 2012 by ptpt Leave a Comment

Maximize Recovery on the MoveJennifer Lifting with Kettlebell

So, I had a long day at work and afterwards got in a session with Corey, my manager.  It was a great workout.  Afterwards he gave me a big smile and a high five and I was feeling better, but tired, when I climbed into my car.  And then I hit the 405.  “@#$%^!!!!!!!!!”  In the span of a minute tension was racing back into my system: blood pressure rising as I got angry at traffic, my shoulders and neck getting tense.

CTraffic, frustration, stress, recover, recovery, active recoveryars and commutes can be some of our worst enemies when we’re trying to make
positive changes in our health and fitness.  The stress seeps in and sabotages our bodies’ ability to handle life well, let alone adapt to the positive stress of a well thought-out exercise program.  Even worse it causes us to adopt harmful habits in our posture, our breathing, our sleep, and even our mindset and the way we interact with people.

So here are some simple things that I’ve been practicing  that help a lot when life seems like it’s getting to be too much.

Why not try this tonight?

6 Ways To Get a Break From Your Busy Day

  1. breathing techniques for recoveryAs soon as you get in your car, take 5 deep, slow breaths.  In through the nose, out through the mouth, filling your lungs from bottom to top as full as you can.  Repeat this every time you merge onto a different freeway, or at the start of each significant leg of your journey.  Just don’t close your eyes!
  2. Name 5 things that you are grateful for.  Things that are going well in your life.  Then express your gratitude to somebody before you go to bed!
  3. Take 5 minutes to admire something.  It could be a view, a plant, a nice building or a yard, a child’s project, a loved one.
  4. Before you go to bed, write out 1 chore outside of work that you’ve been putting off that you can accomplish tomorrow.   Put the note somewhere that you will see it tomorrow and get it done.
  5. Right before sleepy time, take another 10 deep breaths, this time with your eyes closed, and think about the thing that you are the most grateful for.  Sweet dreams!
  6. Daily: take 5 minutes every hour to stand up tall and straight.  Let your shoulders come down and be relaxed and broad.  Tighten your core a bit, like a belt.  Let your spine grow tall to the ceiling.  Relax and breathe deep.

All of this will help you lay a foundation for clear thinking, for better circulation, and for better rest.  And if you can practice calm, clarity, and gratitude every day, you are really going to be on track to getting your body where you want it to go!
