Innovative Results Helped Chris Shed 20lbs and Alleviate Back Pain

September 8, 2017 by Jessica 2 Comments

ChrisCalhoonJoining a gym shouldn’t be about popularity and fads. Your fitness routine should help you grow mentally and physically, it’s a lifestyle change that will continue to support you, your goals, your health and lead you to an overall improved quality of life.

For over 10 years, Innovative Results has worked to provide our clients with the tools they need to achieve just that – An Improved Quality of Life.

Check out Chris’ Innovative Results experience!

When/Why did you start training at IR?
In late 2015, I began searching for a new way of working out and getting in shape. Until that time, I had been a member at a national ‘mega-gym’ for years, however, it wasn’t very motivating, and I wasn’t getting any results. Then one day, I stumbled upon a short introduction video on IR, and I knew immediately this was the place for me. Days later, I had my first workout with IR and my life was changed for the better.

Chris Calhoon Before
Chris prior to joining Innovative Results in December 2015.

What have you improved since you started training at IR?
Everything – strength, flexibility, aerobic capacity. Loss of nearly 20lbs. Back pain has been dramatically reduced.

Some metrics that I have achieved: 70 feet on the versa-climber in 10 seconds, 43 push ups in 1 minute, 3 minute straight arm plank.

How has IR improved other areas of my life?
Inspired to be more active with my life, and be more active outdoors – recently, hiked to the summit of Saddleback Mountain, the highest point in Orange County.

I sleep better and the workouts help reduce stress levels.

Why do you stay committed to your improvement in and out of the gym?
In the words of Dylan Thomas, “Do not go gently into that good night – old age should burn and rave at close of day.” While I don’t think I’m old yet, IR workouts help keep me feeling young, and help keep the effects of time and age at bay.

Irvine Personal Trainer Solves Your Weight Loss Resolution

December 31, 2016 by ptpt 26 Comments

GirlsLC_pagsIrvine Personal Trainer Solves the New Year’s Resolution, To Lose Weight, with Simplicity, Automation, and Delegation

By: Aaron Guyett

The idea is to win or succeed in all of your endeavors and desires, and if you lose or fail, learning should occur to win the next time. This idea and the novel idea that all that has happened in the past is done and over, it can only be used to make better decisions for the future and to create the “right” actions, thoughts and words in the present. I think more than making the “right” decisions is being happy with the decisions made. So there is a one question to ask yourself before you continue. If you want to win…what is the emotion or reason behind the supposed #1 New Year’s Resolution, to lose weight?

If the reason or emotion is deep seeded enough, and the visualization of your success brings about happiness, let’s make your dreams come true!

jeff_laurie lunge

First, let’s simplify.

Losing weight is as simple as calories in and calories out. If this is true scientifically, you need only create thoughts, actions, and words to create a caloric deficit. How will you do this? Magic number 5:

  1. Write down your current situation specifically, with as many details as possible.
  2. Write down your goal specifically with as many details as possible. Now put away number one, and don’t look at it until March. Put your goal everywhere you look. When you see it remind yourself OUT LOUD what you are doing and why you are doing it (refer to the emotion or reason for the New Year’s Resolution).
  3. Know you can do it! (If you can’t get past this, than stop wasting your time reading this article)
  4. Become conscious of what you eat! (Write it all down. Everything that you put in you mouth liquid or solid, and know the calories) Journaling your diet is more of a mental task for yourself. If you don’t do it, hang up the resolution.
  5. Become active! Kill your TV, computer, (insert your biggest time waster here), and get outside and move! If you need help with this, email info@innovative-results.com.

Now it is time to automate.

Automation frees up time for you to do other things besides calculate calories and prepare meal plans. Two ways to do this:

  1. Get a trainer to do it for you. Email us at info@innovative-results.com
  2. Get an app (myfitnesspal is my favorite) and start recording your nutrition, hydration, and workouts. You will still need self-discipline. They will help you out, and it is free!

Last but not least delegate.

Delegation of your responsibilities, accountability, and discipline is a sure fire way to keep the flame burning bright and hot! 5 ways to delegate, what the delegation is:

  1. Accountability, responsibility, and disciplined can be delegated to a trainer and the trainer should help instill self-accountability, responsibility, and discipline.
  2. Family should hold you accountable to your goals. Be sure to describe the task they will be holding for you, because they love you and want you to succeed. If this is not the case with your family, fire them and make a new one.
  3. Friends should provide the same accountability systems as your family, if they are not on track with you, then your success should live with their uninvolved, unhelpful lives somewhere else.
  4. Co-workers cannot be fired, but they can be warned of the money that is involved should they adhere to your requests. Don’t have money? Tell them you are in a huge competition, and if you win you can take two people on a trip to the Cayman Islands. Hmmmm…who should I pick? (You might not win the competition, but you will win some hearts and minds for the time it takes you to get to your goal—maybe even some cheerleaders)
  5. Once you get to your goals you may rehire your lost family members, friends, and trainer for the spread of your newly acquired outlook on life. You did it!

8 Reasons Why Failure is the Key to Success – Orange County Fitness Playground

The dreaded “F” word…

FAILURE

Here at The Orange County Fitness Playground, the coaches and clients have shared their failure moments more than once, but every time they do, they get closer and closer to their success.

Experiencing SUCCESS on your first attempt is rare, hence the saying “beginners luck.”

And we’d bet that this “luck” did not result in finding your dream career, beautiful partner, or any item that you consider “priceless” in your life.

Life’s bumps and bruises are what you need to achieve YOUR goals.

Pick the Brain recently posted a great article on the importance of experiencing failure, and why you are actually succeeding each time you feel the weight of “failure” and we couldn’t agree more.

8 Reasons Why Failure is the Key to Success:

  1. It can be a good lesson for youthephoenix
  2. Failing makes you realize if you really want this
  3. Mistakes build your character
  4. It is a chance to try something new
  5. It gives you an opportunity to grow
  6. Mistakes help you meet new people
  7. It makes you revise your priorities
  8. I makes you understand that you are not superman

A Life Hack: Rest More to Accomplish More

August 23, 2015 by Jessica Leave a Comment

By Aubrie Pohl

You can feel the combination of motivation and your vision magnetizing you, pulling you toward your goal just as it is being drawn towards you.

You create a schedule, and set intention to the tasks you will accomplish to reach that goal.

Every day, you take the right steps in the right direction.

Training more, moving more, you feel the diligent effort adding up, allowing you to move better, look better, and feel better.

Then suddenly, fatigue sets in.

Your muscles grow weary, your mind becomes dull and you become perplexed about what happened.

Despite valiant effort to reach your greatest potential, the wisdom of your body was gently reminding you that you need to rest.

Put the Pep Back in your Step

In our lives we are often on the run and may not notice when our energy becomes drained.

Keeping your inner vision focused and following the path towards it undoubtedly displays integrity, but it can’t be sustained unless you nurture yourself.

If we go beyond our limits, we actually use more energy than we have and, essentially, operate on a deficit.

By using just a couple techniques for rest, we access powerful tools for revitalizing our bodies.

Stress Won’t Let You Rest!

Stress is one of the most debilitating and widespread conditions present in the world.

In fact, it is so common that we think it is normal.

Within the elaborate system of our bodies, our stress response evolved and developed as a survival mechanism during life-threatening situations.

However, nowadays humans are getting stressed about EVERYTHING.

Manifesting justifications to get stressed about situations or experiences, stress can hold you back in all aspects of life.

The body responds by slowing down digestion, suppressing the immune system, and causing a ruckus in the system, which will definitely prevent you from rest!

There’s good news!

The stress we commonly see is a fallacy, it is an irrational feeling, and you can manage stress into a tool that makes you stronger.

You can reduce the stress you experience through mindfulness of your thoughts and feelings, knowing that at any moment you are capable of relaxing.

Learning methods such as yoga and meditation will allow you to master your emotions and improve stress handling abilities.

[By the way, I teach yoga at Innovative Results! Tuesday & Wednesday at 11am, Thursday & Friday at 8pm :)]

Every individual is different, but finding a method to liberate from stress will in turn allow you to experience the rest you need.

Essential Slumber

When our lives become busy, sleep tends to be one of the first things we sacrifice.

We get caught up in the idea that by doing more we will get more done, so we stay up later and sleep less.

Decreasing an hour or two of slumber so we can increase our task list, and then we increase our caffeine intake to manipulate the body’s energy levels.

However, it is during sleep where the body revitalizes itself.

Sleep is as vital to sustaining a healthy, energetic life as eating, drinking, and breathing!

A night of ample sleep is a potent energizer, fostering a healthy body and a vibrant mind.

On the contrary, a lack of sleep creates a sluggish body and a foggy mind.

Give yourself the gift of a restful night and experience yourself feeling more refreshed, attentive, and ready for life’s challenges so you can live your full potential.

Knowing when to rest is as important as the work we do.

Today by seeking rest, you can rejuvenate yourself and improve your quality of life.

Use Psychological Needs to Your Advantage, and Build Successes Through Daily Rhythms

June 2, 2014 by ptpt 1 Comment

By Aaron Guyett

I wake up late, shower, get dressed, grab coffee, and go to work, feeling really off-rhythm and anxious all day long, and I thought I accepted the fact that I woke up late on my drive in to work.

I wasn’t even late for work.

I was on time.

It isn’t until three o’clock that I realized I did not do three things in my daily schedule.

I usually workout in the morning at my local adventure playground, and then I get dressed, grab coffee, and go to work.

However, during my drive I listen to a daily devotional called, “Pray-As-You-Go,” and when I sit in the parking lot, I review my daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly goals.

I then say out loud some daily affirmations and prayers I wrote down at the beginning of the year to help energize me for what opportunities are in store for me that particular day.

“Consistency theories all are based on the assumption that human beings have a strong psychological need for consistency. This is often referred to as a need to maintain cognitive balance.”[1]

IMG_0167

According to Tubbs, my cognitive balance can be thrown off without regular rhythms that keep our psyche focused or sane.

Our choices have a lot to do with this consistency theory, and we can use them to our advantage if we want to harness small and even large successes.

Make a choice right now to write down some daily rhythms that will help build consistency toward your goals instead of having chaos and the unknown steal your success.
